If one has everything one desires, do they have the right to sadness?
Why of course, one would say, shouldn’t everybody have that, right?
If one watches suffering
And mourns themself despite having everything
How grateful are they?
How foolish is one who doesn’t work, doesn’t try and mourns the consequences?
How aware is one who feels guilt for their lack of effort?
If most live to feel and feel to live, what is rationality?
If most live by rationality and logic alone, what is emotionality?
If most live for themselves and no other, what is empathy?
If most empathize and feel for others’ sorrow, what is apathy?
If most try and one does not, what is will?
Rationality, far removed from empathy. Empathy, opposite of apathy. Apathy, the opposite of will.
If will is defined at birth, what is effort? Merely a product of what you’re born with?
If one is born without “will”, is failure their fault?
If you can work harder than others who are born “talented”, is that not a talent in motivation?
If everything is made up of your genetics, what are we? But flesh and bone guided by electricity.
If our flesh was replaced by metal, our veins by wires, and our brain by code, chemicals, and circuits, we would be machine.
Yet, we aren’t. We “feel”. Yet, what is feeling but chemical signals emitted by our brains. What is reality’s purpose if we are able to be fooled and filled by dreams alone.
What are these questions but foolish attempts at understanding something that doesn’t need to be understood?
Why not just enjoy what you have, try your best to rise out of your situation, and live life?

Hello!
I enjoyed this text, though at some times I had to re-read a line a few times to understand it. Though I don't have an answer to any of these questions, I will review the overall text!
I liked how each line was a complicated question, and gave much to think about. I liked, also, how the questions linked back to one another. It makes the reader (aka me) feel, I don't know, maybe some sort of sense of superiority that they already know what is being talked about? Or maybe satisfaction? Yea, I don't know, but it's very good!
I liked how, at the end, the questions turn towards themselves "What are these questions but foolish attempts at understanding..." It's a good finish in my opinion, and as I'm terrible at having good ideas to end my texts, I think that this was a really good one!
The text also brings the reader into thinking everything thoroughly, and coming to conclusions, making that reader remember it well.

time for my weekly dosage of poetry/ prose that drives me to insanity (and seemingly everything is driving me to insanity nowadays)
Diving straight into the interpretations-
The poem is a thought provoking, contrasting basic human nature or rather questioning it. Its written in simple language but I think most people, especially those who love to relish philosophy would enjoy this version of viewing the world.
What interested me to read is the FIRST LINE ITSELF (plus points on that line)
You question on how one could have all their desires and yet grieve, which makes us appear ungrateful.
When talking about someone's accomplishments, we must know why a person is able to achieve so much.
It is merely their hunger for some validation and sometimes an imitation of someone else, which makes them so motivated. And then, again, someone always ends up being better which makes the said person grieve and regret. It is not ungratefulness but unappreciation for oneself.
A person who doesn't try and mourns the consequences is not much different than the case before. They just have the inability to start on whatever they're trying to accomplish but they still compare themselves to someone much better.
They, in my opinion, are very aware of their condition but lose their end goal somewhere in between the process.
Then we continue with rationality, emotionality, empathy and apathy. I like how each sentence contrast with the sentence before. It's an interesting detail.
Fast forwarding a little (the work is pretty self explanatory)
In my opinion, it is our diversity that makes it difficult to define us as a whole. Rationality, emotionality etc. simply does not exist to me as we change so does the world. These changes happen in a whim and do not define us.
Our beliefs and the way we act eventually change but somewhere between blurred lines- our conscience lies and perhaps that's all that matters.
I agree with you, these are things not to be understood however much they are studied. Go with the flow
