Knock, Knock!
"Cassie... GET OUT!"
I could hear my sisters shouts muffled to a mere whisper through the pulsing rock music and the thick Oak door.
You there Paramorekid ??
The little chat icon in the corner of my computer screen repeatedly popped up as I ignored my sister using the musical powers of my favourite band, Green Day. I could remember when I was young and I didn’t need the internet. The days when Kara, my twin, didn’t hate my guts and my mother and I were on speaking terms. Ever since my older brother joined the army, mum always blamed me for them falling out. It wasn’t like I forced him to leave. Nick was 18 when he left for Afghanistan and I always regretted telling him I hated him before he left. The only reason we argued was because I wrote in my diary how I fancied a boy at school. Nick decided to be a nosy brother and read it. He didn’t like that I fancied someone. He told Kara who became annoyed at me for not telling her, and all of that meant I told nick that I hated him when I truly didn’t.
The screen started to shake as my online friend, grew more impatient. I wasn’t ready to leave my memoirs yet but my fingers betrayed me and started to type.
Yeah! I’ve been distracted lately. What were you saying ? I felt guilty for not paying much attention. Lewis, aka Falloutboy101, had a hard life compared to mine. After a life time of bullying, Lewis had loads of damage. Obviously, no-one can say that any of his ridiculously horrid story is at all true. I’d never met him and I didn’t intend to but it didn’t feel like a lie. Normally I’m quite good at being able to tell if someone is lying but that is normally face to face, so I can’t put utter faith in my detective skills.
I found myself talking to Lewis quite easily, probably because he loves Paramore and just like me, he goes to a school where stereotyping is common and people who wear black jeans and like rock, aren’t at the top of the popularity scale. My mum has got into thinking that I brought all of the bullying upon myself.
“Its like you want people to target you. Before we moved, you wore all the clothes I bought you, you were really bubbly and had lots of friends and now you just ignore everyone like they’re invisible!”
I raised up the volume after a few muffled calls from Kara and then she finally stomped off, slamming the door across the hall and sending shudders through my room. Kara loved to cause a scene, even when nothing happens, because she knows that mom would be thrilled to intervene. She practically jumps at every chance she gets to lecture me, especially on common topics like ‘Quality time with the family’, ‘Go out and make friends’ and the most popular, ‘Leave your sister alone’. Me and mothers relationship had worsened since we moved to the coast. She doesn’t seem to understand that when I left my school of three years, I might miss my two best friends and be just be a little bit upset. No, that thought would never enter my mothers thoughts because her main priority is my sister and her academic achievements. The only reason we moved to the coast was so Kara could go to a boarding school that required special achievements. I didn’t have an early GCSE in maths so unlike my twin, I had to go to a comprehensive school (a normal government school to you and me). I had to start completely from scratch and that caused what my mother calls the ‘Meltdown’. I knew mom would come upstairs to assess the situation so I decided to go downstairs and mention that Kara was disturbing my revision and slammed the door, not like she would listen.
