The world is falling. Not for the first time I fear. I’m under again and go numb. I awake in the hospital with my mother, brother, and friend by my side. Amy had obviously been crying, her streaked mascara and red eyes, she wasn’t the only one though.
“How long has it been?” I asked, being curious.
“A week now.” My mother’s soft voice warms my heart. It had been a week, longer then last time but shorter then my longest. The doctor says I’m getting better but I only feel worse. Amy looks into my eyes, her ocean blue eyes, and starts crying again. In joy she kept saying. In joy, how can you feel pain for a joyous reason? My head started spinning and I laid down again.
I fell into sleep. This time I woke up in my own bed. My boyfriend Mark sitting next to me.
“Is there anything, anything I can get you? Anything at all?” Mark was super nice to me. When he wasn’t the nicest thing in the world, he probably had some home issues going on again so he came to my house.
“I’m fine.” I thought I was at least. But it’s the thought that counts though, right?
“Are you sure? You were out for a week. They didn’t even tell me which hospital you were in! I, are you sure? I can get you anything.” Mark, normal Mark. Sometimes I envied him, till I remembered about his home issues. His dad dead and his mom went mad and drugged herself. Now she's out of the hospital but, blames Mark for his dad's death.
“I’m sure. But could I have a glass of water?” It’s a simple question but with Mark nothing's simple.
“Sure, with a lemon slice? And some sugar. Wait they said you weren’t supposed to add sugar to your drinks now. I could get you some kiwi?” Mark asked. He crammed all those words in like a kid trying to put extra ice-cream in his cup.
“Just the lemon water please. But thanks though.” I loved him. Definitely all of him.
We’d been friends since almost forever. Even knowing that, I couldn’t ever forget how we met. He probably has though, it was just a regular day for him. I had gone the market with my allowance. I had five dollars and felt like a millionaire. I had bought three biscuits and a small can of apple cider. While I was walking home I was planned on sharing with my mother and Drew (my little brother) and was planning which blanket we would use to sit on in the park when I heard a faint crying. It was a man’s voice which surprised me most of all I think. I looked ahead and saw Mark sitting there head in his lap crying. I walked up to him, sat next to him, and asked what’s wrong.
“The world’s falling down.” That’s all he said when he stopped crying.
“How is the world falling down?” I looked up to see the sky intact and then looked back at him.
“Not the real world my world.” I was lost for a moment then completely understood how he felt, then he put his head in his lap.
“I know how you feel.” It was a simple statement I said. He looked at me and for a second it looked like there was hope in his life till he put his head back into his lap.
“You’re just saying that.” He said but it wasn’t rudely, it wasn’t with force but with fear.
“No the world goes completely black, and I can’t feel anything til I wake up in the hospital.” He didn’t understand I knew exactly how he feels.
“Oh. Are you okay?” He said it like he was worrying about me. It felt good.
“Um I think so.” I wasn’t sure and my voice backed me up. “Do you want to come to my house?”
“Sure.” And he smiled. That’s all I remember. But he says we went to my house and had a lot of fun.
Reality woke me with a start when he came back in. He started apologizing even though he didn’t have to. He kissed my forehead. I looked into his crystal blue eyes and felt comfort. He could do that just by smiling if he wanted to. Just to add another thing to the list of things I love about him.

Hi there! Noelle here for another Review Day review!

First things first, you switch between present and past tense quite early on in the story. But then you continue the rest of the chapter in past tense so it's not that big of a deal. Just make sure that you go back and fix that when you edit.
Aw, Mark is so sweet! He's always there for her and wants to give her everything. Oh if only there were men out there like that for me to date *sigh*
Okay, so you've got a nice start here. There's a girl who is living a life in which she could black out for days at a time at any time. At least, that's what I've gotten from this first chapter. That's an interesting disease. I just wonder if this is an actual disease or if you're just making it up. That's fine if it's made up of course. Both ways you'll have to really get into this disease and describe it well. If it's made up, you'll have to work extra hard for us to believe it exists. If it's a real disease then you'll have to make sure that you have your facts straight. I warn you, it'll be a lot of work. But I'm sure you know that already because you've started writing it
Let me know when the next chapter is up! I can't wait to read more!
Keep writing!
**Noelle**
Thanks so much! And yea its a made up disease. At least i think so.... Aren't the nicest guys always taken though?
Hey man.
needs a comma after "I"
"her streaked mascara and red eyes" is a parenthetical expression here. SO it has to serve some purpose, you can't just state that. Maybe if you add "shows" after "eyes" it will work.
Needs comma after "asked".
*worse
Amy is looking into the narrator's eyes. So the parenthetical expression can't describe Amy's eyes.
I don't understand this. Try rewording the sentence.
*can't.
I don't get this "home issue" thing. You need to tell a bit about that.
gone to the market...
I thought the narrator was going to the market or something. Where did this picnic thing come from?
Okay, you need to re-write this. I think this is the first draft, if so you have yo write at least another two drafts. re-writing will act as a filter and all your typos and other errors will get combed out.
The story is good, but I was having trouble understanding it. What were you trying to say with all the "world falling down" stuff. Maybe I'm too dim to get this. But I still feel you need to flesh out and develop the story. You need to think about the plot more. How everything will work. It the plot isn't realistic, the story will fall down.
Keep writing!!
I fixed everything you said (I can't edit for my life honestly so this place is perfection for me) and i fixed the second part you couldn't follow. The first part means that the narrator hasn't had tears of joy so she doesn't understand it.
