the gentle light waits for you
at the end of the darkest tunnels
step by step
I will help you be strong and patient
There is nothing we can't do
I will help you find it
It lays at the end of the darkest tunnels
step by step
we will find it
I will help you, I am your friend
Be strong
be patient
I will help
There is nothing we can't do
I will help you find it
we will, together

RoyalHighness has arrived to review!
Okay, I loved this. I'm just gonna gush for a bit.
First off, I'm a sucker for enjambment, especially enjambment well done, the way yours is. Great job keeping it consistent.
Second, this poem flows really well. I never thought words that don't rhyme could just plain fit together the way you did. It's truly a talent.
To get specific, I love the phrase, "gentle light." If you ever read my future stuff, I might just slip that in there– with credit to you, of course!
I like how you don't mention what "it," is that you're trying to find, and yet, I know exactly what "it," is, or at least I think I do. That is the sign of good metaphor.
I like the repetition of certain phrases, especially, "There is nothing we can't do." Sometimes repetition is dangerous because too much can distract from the meaning, but if you use it right (the way you did), repetition can really enhance what you're trying to say. And it did. And it was great.
So to wrap up this rather short and complimentary review, I'm going to give your beautiful poem a stunning eight stars out of ten! Wonderful job!
I won't prod you on your metaphors and how you describe things, because poetry is a form of art and art can mean anything to anyone. How you interpret your words will be diferent from mine or anyone else's interpretation. I like the way this poem makes me feel, it's very hopeful and optimistic and reminds me fondly of the one I love. One of the only critisms I have would be that you should be a bit more consistent in your capitalization. Also, make sure to include a bit more punctuation. It's not necessary in every few lines, but halfway through a poem, a period or two will help the reader feel refreshed while reading.
I liked this poem overall. Good work.
Hello, Madam Lisa!
Obviously this poem is about finding something good after coming from a dark place. Right now, though, it feels like more of a sketch than a painting, and everyone goes to the art museums for the paintings, you know?
What does the light symbolize?
The light at the end of the tunnel can symbolize many things, but most prominently, and probably in this poem, hope. However, let's look again at that image I just mentioned. It can stand for a lot of other things, and also it has stood for hope so many times that I read the image and thought, oh, it's about hope. Now it's all well and good that I know that the poem is about hope, but I think that you should try to find a different image to symbolize hope, one that's not so overused. And don't use birds. It's the same with that one.
I try to avoid starting my poems with "it." It always makes the poet explain his/her/xer self later in the poem, and that doesn't lead to a very streamlined poem. Streamlining would be really good for this poem. Look at everything that isn't needed and cut it out, rearranging words as you go, and combining lines that are too short, and make the poem sound a little awkward. Only doing these things, your poem already looks better:
Spoiler
You don't have to follow that advice, of course, but it's something to think about.
I would also like to know some details about what the tunnel symbolizes. Make it reflect the difficulties of the other person. The narrator wants to help the other through this, but what is the other going through specifically? You don't have to spell it out, but perhaps pick a symbol that shows a little of what this person is going through.
I hope that this review proves useful to you! Have a great day, and keep writing!
i do like your advice and I think I will change it. Thank you. By the way is his sadness and depression. Thanks
Awwww. What a beautiful poem! Thanks so much for writing it! It means a lot to me. This is a review, though, so I do have to criticize it. But let's go with the pros first.
Pros:
-It's pretty.
-It was written directly for me, so, while not necessarily a pro, it sweetened the experience.
-It was short and still really good.
-It was a nice gesture.
-It was definitely a passion project.
-It is a feel-good poem.
Cons:
-There is no punctuation at the ends of the lines
-I don't feel like ''find it'' needs its own lines every time.
Thank you!
I'm glad you like your poem. Well my poem but it is for you. What do you mean "passion project"? I will try to punctuate if it will make me work better. I thought "find it" needed its own line just for emphasis but I can change that. You're welcome. I am glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.
