The Want

The Want

It feels so strong,
Pulsing inside,
Gently at first,
Then consuming.

You don’t know it.
I didn’t once.
I recognized
It much too late.

Something felt wrong.
Lots of anger,
But sadness, too,
And anxiety.

Normal emotions.
Become extreme.
Control our souls.
As we lose more.

Our true lives fade.
The urges win out.
We bite, burn, binge,
And kill ourselves.

The desire
To endure pain,
Then end the pain,
And die forever.

Good poem. It would have been perfect if the punctuations were fixed right. The commas and full-stops disrupted the flow of the poem while reading.

It feels so strong, I don't like the fact that there are so many commas here. Maybe add some other type of punctuation to add variety?
Pulsing inside,
Gently at first,
Then consuming.

You don’t know it.
I didn’t once. I agree that this line should be worded differently.
I recognized
It much too late.I also think it should go up.

Something felt wrong.I would put : here, instead of a period.
Lots of anger,
But sadness, too,
And anxiety. I like these lines.

Normal emotions.
Become extreme.
Control our souls.
As we lose more.I'm not sure if I like the periods here, although I love the words.

Our true lives fade.Like it!
The urges win out.
We bite, burn, binge,Binge? I don't know what it means, I will go look it up, but it sounds very weird... not poetic.
And kill ourselves.

The desire
To endure pain,
Then end the pain,Great ending!
And die forever.

I didn’t once. (as there's no rhyme here anyway- I'd suggest putting this line differently. maybe: 'neither did I')
I recognized
It much too late. (I'd offer moving the It a line up: 'I recognized It\much to late')

Something felt wrong.
Lots of anger,
But sadness, too,
And anxiety. (I didn't really like the emotion description here- I think you should try something that's less like a grocery list)

Normal emotions-
Become extreme,
Control our souls-
As we lose more.(lose more what?)

Our true lives fade,
The urges win out.(the urges win out sounds a bit improper to me)
We bite, burn, binge,(binge? It's a bit undramatic- don't you think?)
And kill ourselves.(maybe destroy rather than kill, also- try and replace 'and' with 'then')

The desire
To endure pain-
Then end the pain,
And die forever.

I loved it, Though I offered some ideas of my own, feel free to ignore them, they really are more of a personal suggestion then a repairing mostly- It's a great poem, not a 'I'm a super-emotional guy- boohoo me' kind of poem which sometimes annoys me- but a strong, dry tough poem, that is emotional, but not whiny.

Great job!
