Once Alone

PreviousNext

I’m falling from the height of life; I’m drowning in this world alone; oh so alone now.
And even while surrounded by friends, I somehow feel deserted, as if I were alone.

While driving in the car, I feel a sense of melancholy. It just fills my heart; washes over me.
I wonder what life is all about…I know there must be more to life than money, love and fame.
~~~~~
I’ve got it good, I’ve got it great; my dreams have almost all come true.
But even though that’s true, I can’t figure they really are.
‘Cuz everything just goes by, dreams fade, and I’ll die.
And when I die I’ll go alone, since I’m…
~~~~~
(Chorus)
~~~~~
My thoughts continue on, against my deepest wish, they seem to be wondering.
Deep inside my memory, I suddenly recall what an old friend once said about there being a God
About there being something great; so maybe there is a purpose to this life outside of money, love and fame.
~~~~~
As I search a little farther, learn a little more; as the weeks turn into months, I begin to believe.
‘Cuz there really is a God, loving as an old friend once said.
My depression turns to joy, as I turn to God, and no more am I…
~~~~~
(Chorus)
~~~~~
With God as my purpose, in my heart, mind and soul, I continue through my journey of life.
Spreading what an old friend once said, that saved me, saved me from…
~~~~~
(Chorus)
No, ooh, oh I’m not alone. No ooh oh, I no longer feel deserted.
Is this more a poem? Or lyrics? This is a pretty piece, you just have to determine what you are going for. (Song or not) formatting it would help a bit.
Hey (Lydia?)
I liked this, I really did. I found it quite inspiring, but I also agree that it needs to be formatted differently. Not sure how to do this - sorry!
I love the lyrics and the reference to God and a life started anew. These lyrics really brought a smile to my face. Just one thing I wanted to offer my opinion on, though - you might want to choose a word to replace 'love' when you talk about how there must be more to life than money, love and fame: love is a very Christian value, and as this is essentially a Christian poem, it doesn't really make sense that you should speak against it. I'm not really talking about boyfriend-girlfriend-kind love, more like friendship :P
Great lyrics. Keep writing and God bless,
Ignis :pirate3:
Well, I haven't sung this so I'm not sure how it'll actually sound. I have to write the music for it next...big job!
These are the first song lyrics I've written, so I wasn't quite sure about the content and flow, but hopefully I'll get better if I write more lyrics. Thanks for the comments, but next time can you be a little more specific how to improve it and why you think what you do?
Firstly I would like to suggest putting this in a different format ie poem as it is quite hard to read as it is
Secondly I would like to say well done, I think this is quite good for someone who is only fourteen
Thirdly
Matthews wrote:Really matter in because after
I'm not sure that this makes sense, I think maybe the word in isn't meant to be there...
Fourthly I am in agreement with the first reviwer.
That is all :)
Keep writing!
It's not bad but you can always do better. I can tell these are interesting lyrics.
