Rock Bottom

Needless to say, this is very personal to me. Things have taken a turn for the worse, but I still have my writing. Let me know what you think.

There is nothing here but nothing.
Nothing you can say
now that it’s over and done with.
What is there left to leave?
Everything’s been taken

away from me
Or did I give it up?

I sold my soul to all of you.
Gave it all my best, every ounce
of my strength was yours,
To keep and cherish, respect

but you didn’t.

I screamed so many times,
And there were nights when I would
just sit there. Tears.
Because it was impossible.

I could tell you I cried myself to sleep each night.
I could tell you that I never hurt more.
I could tell you that I screamed every day,
but, it would be hard to admit

that I didn’t want it to be that way.

It was easier loving you in pain
than giving you up in vain.

The lines and words and verbs
I used to convince
you. To stop. Think
about what you were going to do.

And now it’s over,
It’s done with.
It’s finished,
You’re gone,

And you’ve taken me to the rock bottom you’re on.

Shoaib, that line means that it's easier still being in love with this person even though they don't love me back and have forgotten about me (so it's painful), rather than giving up on them after all the effort it took to deal with losing them (in vain).
Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Wow, I don't know what led you to write this, but I'm sorry, it must have been awful.
The poem was amazing, I could feel the pain and grief "coming out" of the poem.
I love it, especially the last line, which was a beautiful conclusion to it.
Keep writing.

Good one. My favourite lines are :

And now it’s over,
It’s done with.
It’s finished,
You’re gone,

The above lines have given a great ending to your poem and they really speak to the reader. However I had problem understanding these lines:

It was easier loving you in pain
than giving you up in vain.

the problem is that since you have apparently conveyed that the times you spent with the person referred to in the poem were better times, than how does the concept of pain come in here?? Maybe it's just my problem that I didn't understand this line but I would appreciate if you explain this to me if I'm wrong. Otherwise it's a good poem , keep writing..

Uh, Lisa, the whole reason we have elected officials is so we don't have to think all the time. Just like that rainforest scare a few years back: our officials saw there was a problem and they fixed it, didn't they?
