At Cambridge.

Now to be perfectly honest
I didn’t have the slightest
clue of how to react
to you.

How you explained so carefully,
All the most important things
that we had know.
To write.

I can remember that one time
when I came to ask about
my next English essay.
You said

“I used to sit on the green grass,
back when I was at Cambridge.
With all of my books
and read.”

There was something about the way
you told me that little thing-
that had made me think
Could I?

Would I ever be able to
sit on a Cambridge lawn,
and read all my books
Like you?

Maybe this doesn’t make much sense
to you right now, but I feel
I appreciate you
more.

Thanks to that little memory
you became my favourite
teacher and
person to talk to;
about sitting on the grass, in Cambridge.
Reading.

Maybe one day I’ll see you there.

This is a really intriguing poem. It is written like a letter, which makes it different but very interesting to read. Anyway, I didn't really see any nitpicks, so great job and keep writing!

I did notice the missing words, but I've already rectified that - I simply didn't want to upload the poem all over again.
Thank you for all the comments, every one is very helpful to me.

Hi there. Lavvie in to review...obviously!

I think this was a really sweet poem of you to write to your departing teacher. I'm sure they must have appreciated it very much! :)

A) Meter (Poetic rhythm). What I noticed is that you sometimes slipped up slightly on the meter (also known as poetic rhythm) and it didn't help with the overall flow of the poem. You only will need to remove one or two words (or insert) to fix this. For example:

Maybe this doesn’t make much sense
to you right now, but I feel
that I appreciate you
more.

You don't need to use these exact suggestions, however, it is what I think is best. You may tweak them to whatever you prefer!

Nitpicks

One or two:

How you explained so carefully,
All the most important things
that we had know.
To write

I think you're missing some words in the last two lines and it's not making perfect sense :P

Overall, a nice poem. It's sweet but still possesses a melancholy atmosphere. Sort of!

Yours,
Lavvie

I enjoyed your poem and I like the structure of your stanzas.
The little problem I had has been dealt with already by Poem.
Funny enough, I have a similar experience with my Literature teacher.

Keep up the good work!

Hey there :)

I really liked this poem. It's simple tone fits it perfectly, and I like how it feels almost like a letter.

There was only one small error that I found,

All the most important things
that we had know.
To write.
I think that you mean to say "that we had to know."

I really like the ending of the poem, you worded it really well. I hope to see more from you in the future =)

Cheers,
Poem
