Loyal Blood: A Jet Black Storm (Part Two)

First Year

Jet walked uncertainly into the class. Every head turned to look at him except one girl in the back of the room.

"You must be Jet Rood," the teacher's voice cut harshly into Jet's awareness. He forced his gaze away from the girl and looked to the teacher. She was short, with long, red hair and light brown eyes. She wore black, rectangular framed glasses.

Jet nodded. "You're Ms. Byers I presume?" he asked. Trying to sound polite.

"Yes, I am," she smiled at him. And he forced a smile in return. "You can take a seat next to Hazel if you'd like. Or you can sit here in the front," she touched the desk in front of her.

Jet hadn't heard the last sentence, thought. He had instinctively turned to the back when she pointed. The girl who had ignored his entrance; Hazel, was now gazing at him. Her full attention was on him. She took in his eyes first. When their eyes met, she was surprised. She had never seen such eyes. They seemed to glow under the bright lights of the classroom. But then, her eye color was unique, too. Cherry-wood itself wasn't an everyday color, but to have tiny swirls of silver? Nobody had ever seen eyes like hers.

Jet made his way to the seat next to Hazel. He slung has bag off his shoulder and slid into the seat in one fluid motion. He could feel Hazel's eyes on him, taking in his height now that he was close enough for her to notice. He wasn't in the mood to be scrutinized, but he said nothing.

Glancing at her, he realized Hazel was quite small, be far the smallest in the class. Her dark hair was pulled back away from her face in a low ponytail. Her jaw was was curved softly, like his own, and her eyes were full of life and aspiration. He couldn't help but stare. She was like no other girl he had ever seen. He felt the rest of the class staring at them. They knew something was going on, but they didn't know what.

A note slid across the floor and bounced off Jet's shoe. He intuitively knew it was from Hazel, though he hadn't seen her write anything. He picked up the note and unfolded it slowly.

'Hi, my name is Hazel. You're Jet?'

He stared at the note before writing back. 'Yes. Hello Hazel.'

'So I understand you're knew here...'

'Yeah'

'Need any help finding your classes?'

Again, I'm speechless.
What confused me is that jet knew hazel's name before she told him. Usually, even with the perspective you're writing from, the narrator would just say her, or 'the girl' until they are introduced.
Re-read, because you're missing some punctuation in places
