Heat

I see your face,
my blood is on fire.
Churning.
You see me and smile,
my heart flutters.
Flip-flops.
You walk towards me,
my mind goes blank.
Thoughtless.

My searing blood races
through my veins
and attacks my over-active heart.
Churning and boiling,
spinning and burning.
Fire.
My skin gets hot,
I could combust.

No, I can't!
I scold myself.
Settle down and remember.
Hide in the shadows.
Cower in the shelter.
Don't let them know
The
truth.
Hide my emotions,
cover my feelings.
Smile.
Hug.
Fool them.
Just friends.
Everything is okay.
He'll never know.

This makes me miss middle school. That's when I got all these fluttering feelings about my best crushes. Heat is the perfect title. I remember the feeling, and you took the words right out of my mouth. I love it. Especially this part:

I see your face,
my blood is on fire.
Churning.
You see me and smile,
my heart flutters.
Flip-flops.
You walk towards me,
my mind goes blank.
Thoughtless.

Perfect explanation by far I've ever heard when it comes to young infatuation. :D All the blood rushes through you like a wave of heat. You feel numb. It's wonderful.

You ended the poem perfectly I think. By inserting the thought that he doesn't know or could at all possibly be aware of this reaction he gives you. You can only hope! Great poem. Good expressions.
