Chapter 1 Welcome to hotel, make assumptions much?

I can remember on one of the first days working the front desk at a hotel there was an entire group of people coming in where their rooms were paid for by a company. We will call them the Tootsie toddlers. Well at least that's what they acted like. There wasn't much on my end but to check them in and make sure their reservations were good to go. Now for a little bit of information on how my job works. Have you ever tried to log into a site but keep getting the username and password wrong?

Well imagine that but every time you put it in correctly you end up having to put it in anyway everytime you click a button. If you know this feeling you know it is very invigorating to have to keep putting in the same login information every five seconds when there is a line going out the door of people you need to get checked into the hotel and they are acting like they are all the most important people in the room.

Some people have no idea what it's like being on the receiving end of a whole mob. If anyone would just take a second and think , “ well they are doing their best to get us in as quickly as possible then I can be patient for a couple minutes.” It is the same thing over the phone. They don’t see what is going on at the business end of the phone, the line of people, the condescending guests, there are a lot of things going on and people don't understand the amount of pressure that we are under.

If there is one thing we should do better as a society is to never assume. Yes, that is it, just don’t assume. Think about it, mostly every conflict created during the time of homosapians started with some form of assumption. Whether it was wrong or not, assuming someone is a bad person just because they yelled at someone in the store. You don't know what is going on in their life. Same thing applies in every situation. Just to assume that someone is not doing their best just because you were put on hold is like us assuming you're calling us because you're too lazy to do whatever you want us to do yourself.

Assumptions are a dangerous game that everyone plays whether it's silent or voiced throughout a friend or group. It can destroy a person's day, night, in extreme cases even their life. Assuming isn't the only dangerous game and it isn't the most dangerous game that can be played. There's one way worse, The game of infection, and no I don't mean the game of tag where everyone who gets tagged ends up a tagger although it is the same principle.

You assume that someone is a certain way and you tell your friends that assumption as if it's a proven fact. That “fact” is then not only spread between your group of friends but their group of friends and their group of friends and so on and so forth till the whole school or workplace takes that assumption as a hard fact because you assumed they were a certain way. That game is a solid way to ruin someone's life.

As someone who experienced this personally it can destroy a person's confidence, honestly their mental capacity as a whole can be compromised and twisted to think maybe they aren't fit for this world. All it takes is one thought said to the wrong person and you can destroy a person's life even if you didnt mean too. For small communities it is a rough road for someone when they are exiled from everyone they know for a statement made that was completely false.

Chapter 2: Sensitivity has gotten out of, what about schools?

You know something sad, me as a nineteen year old male has thicker skin than a forty year old male or female. Someone can come up to me and call me whatever they want and I’ll be fine, but on the other hand a fully grown man will get so offended by the fact that someone believes that God exists. Like what has our world come to that someone has the thought in their mind that someone who believes in a higher power affects them at all. You don't see me breaking down and throwing a hissy fit like a two year old because someone brushed against me.

Now this is one that I can get in trouble for but I could care less. Transgenders, Gays, Bisexuals and all the other LGBTQ identifiers are getting out of hand. Now of course it's not all of them. I'm talking about the ones who go on camera and try to dictate how we should feel about everything like they are some kind of emotional nazi’s. Yes I know it's on straight people as well and I’ll get to that in my second book. There is one specific event I am speaking of though. Out of everything Ive seen and investigated. There is one event that irks me to this day. The pride flag in schools.

While I agree that freedom of speech should be allowed, exposing our children to that kind of propaganda at that age where they are impressionable is wrong. It's like having a kid grow up in a basement. All they are going to know is the confines of that area. They will be only accustomed to that area. It's the same thing with the flag. If all they see is a pride flag instead of the american flag then they will all grow up thinking it is better to be a homosexual instead of being heterosexual. It will be normal to be gay. While it is normal to be gay in our generation, putting the pride flag into our children's classroom is like weeding out the heterosexual people by creating an environment where children are subject to it everyday, having them thinking they are something they are not.

On that note it is already a huge problem in schools as it is due to the amount of couples shoving their beliefs down their kids' throats. It should be a child's wish to be gay just as it should be a child's wish to be a christian. If you cannot allow your kid to make their own decisions and tell them lies to have them conform to your beliefs then you shouldn't be a parent at all. When you tell your child that if you feel this way or that way then you are gay guess what… you have then corrupted their mind to think that anyone who thinks a specific way is gay.

Referring back to chapter 1 with the analogy “Infection”, it is the same thing here where parents put an ideology in a kids head and that kid spreads that ideology within their friend group and so on and so forth, creating a group of kids who believe something is true when it's just the thoughts of a selfish, condescending parent who cant let their child be who they want to be. The parents are choosing for their kids and not allowing them to grow as a human being. Instead treating them like a specimen grown in a lab.

I remember going to school and going into the science lab and having to cut into a pig heart. You're telling me you give a bunch of students the ability to cut into a creature's heart and make no effort to tell them what is and isn't ok in these types of situations, then wonder why some end up as psychopaths who shoot up the schools. Some kids are not mentally stable enough to be given that kind of situation where you could be providing them a release from a stressful situation and it turns them into someone they don't want to be. While I agree learning is needed, what exactly are children gaining by cutting open an animal's heart for “science purposes”. When will we need to know about a pig's heart unless we are becoming a veterinarian?

You will teach all these people how to play sports or teach us how to read and understand shakespeare. Yet one thing that never came up is how to do your taxes or how mortgages work. All they want is to tell us about our history in the wars and say its so we can “ not make the same mistakes twice”. Although if you think about it, the president of the United States has to go through and pass a history, math, english, and possibly even a science class before getting into the hot seat. Instead we let these people who haven't been to school in years and are just corrupt business people trying to change the tides to make them richer for when they are out of term.

Chapter 3: The votes don't really care, what are the vegans talking about?

You know the votes that we do every November don’t really have a weigh on who gets elected. Think about it, who really voted for Biden?? You know besides the people who have no common sense and should be taken out of the United States and deployed to a third world country to see what their decision caused for the ones defending our country. Then have them go to that same third world country when Trump was in office and see what the difference was.

While every president has his flaws at least Trump helped the common folk so we can afford to have a decent life. Then here comes Sleepy Joe, the one person who couldn't possibly be more obvious than a sesame street character. Having Joe Biden as president is less comforting than going to lunch in the same place where my ex works. There isn't a single president who has done as bad of a job unless Harris becomes president next. Then before you know it we will be paying the Illegal immigrants to employ us.

We can't keep being blind by what you believe to be true. Like let's be real what has Kamala Harris done in her times of service besides imprisoning parents for their children not wanting to have their own will for living sucked out of them like the vacuum of space. Not only that but a mother who was taking her child to the doctor due to some health issues she was having was arrested and lost her job, house, and almost her kids due to caring for her daughters health over her daughters education. What's next, a kid gets shot then gets arrested because he missed too many days of school during recovery.

That is something that can and will happen if we don't take control now. We cannot have our system so corrupt that you cannot even miss a day of school to have a doctor check up to see if you are physically healthy. I was usually a healthy kid besides the counselor asking me if I was treated right at home due to my skinny physique (due to my fast metabolism).

With fast metabolism you need to eat an abundance of food including a ton of meat just to keep the weight. Now that is something you're born with. Kids need their protein otherwise they won't grow properly because they aren't getting the nutrients they need. Vegans while I admire their conviction they are completely wrong about what is going on. We are not murdering animals in order to enjoy a random meal we don't need. We are using the animal as a way for us to survive.

They say killing animals is murder but what about them? Vegans eat plants right? What do some plants do? They create oxygen from carbon monoxide. So, technically they are destroying the amount of wild plants creating something we need to survive. So what's worse? Eating animals so we can continue to survive and have the right amount of minerals in our body or only eating plants which provide us with oxygen just because your idealistic stupidity says it's wrong to kill something we need to survive.

While I understand that meat is technically not necessary for survival it is the best option to provide us with the minerals needed to live a healthy life. This isn't something I take lightly due to the amount of health issues created by parents to their children because they only allow their children plant based diets with no regard to the nutrients needed for that child to function as a part of society. Don't say your child is a vegan if you are breast feeding them cause we both know that is not a vegan delicacy.

Chapter 4: Black lives matter, what about the babies?

There is a fine line between believing in a cause and using a cause for your own personal gain and I feel that both these topics can tie into both sides of this double sided coin. When it comes to black lives matter it depends which one you want to talk about, we can talk about black lives matter or we can talk about the official Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, the main organization that started under the BLM name. Either of them don't have the best rap when it comes to media attention and fund management. While I agree that the “isolated” incidents of violence and riots created by certain groups in the organization have been widely blown up to make a small picture in the grand scheme seem like a grand scheme in the grander scheme of things a blind eye should definitely not be shown to these incidents.

If you would like the full list of incidents I will provide them on page ##. The costs of protests in 2020 took a skyrocket from ninety million to two billion mostly caused by the BLM movement. Now I will say something that might surprise you. The system is not rigged against black people. It is rigged against all people of all colors, shapes and sizes, legs or no legs, arms or no arms. We are all being screwed the same way. While we do see racist cops within law enforcement we shouldn't have that as our way to see all officers. As the organization wants us to believe that these riots are not what their organization is about, they sure are one sided in that opinion.

They choose to continue the ideology that all criminal justice departments are against them while ironically wanting us to believe that 2 million dollars of damage caused by over eight riots within the span of a couple months does not reflect on how the organization as a whole is about. Doesn't that seem a little irrational. That's like telling someone to forgive you for something then going to someone else and refusing to forgive them.

Will you choose to forgive a murder? Someone who chooses to kill another being. A person with little to no regard for another human life. They won't even give them the chance to have a life. That is what abortion is. You are taking a human life and destroying it before it can even feel what it's like to feel pain, love, anger, and fear. You are taking a life and playing god to which you should never have been given the keys to that kingdom in the first place.

Some women say my body is my choice but I say thou who sleepest around and finds a baby on the ultrasound must keep that child and let it grow to be in the wild. If you are old enough to choose to have intercourse with a man and sleep around and aren't careful with how you do it and end up pregnant then you should be old enough to deal with the repercussions and have that child. You were given the gift to house a human life and you should be proud of that but instead some of you choose to use it for your own wants and have zero regard for what you are doing with your body.

I know there is someone reading this saying “ what a jerk does he have no common sense, what if someone is raped”. Yes I understand it is a touchy subject but if I don't say something someone will take it the wrong way and try to make something up. I believe if a woman is deliberately raped not I had drugs with this guy and I dont remember anything cause WE was high. No, that is still a product of your own stupidity, but if you are forced by someone and everything is decided for you I believe it should be up to the woman to keep or to kill the baby. You can’t say that it's not true because from a strictly biological standpoint, life begins at fertilization. At this point, a unique combination of DNA is formed, and the cells begin dividing and developing into a distinct organism.

Chapter 5: Mental health has taken a turn, what affects social media?

Every organism, especially humans, have a very distinctly different way of communicating whether it be by voice or body language. While we all have different ways to express our feelings, sometimes people can have so many feelings and not have a way to express them. Whether it is about how excited they are about a game they’re going to attend, or a death in their family. Especially with how a person is raised or what other ideals are drilled into their head on how they “should” deal with those feelings.

This will be a segway into social media as well. Think about it, how many videos online will you see of a woman or sometimes even a man saying how you should deal with your pain or your anger? It alienates the people who show their feelings and creates an increase in depression and other mental health issues. There was a study done in 2018 by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, titled "No More FOMO: Limiting Social Media Decreases Loneliness and Depression." This study provided clear, direct evidence of a causal link between social media use and mental health, particularly concerning loneliness and depression.

This study directly correlates the adverse effects on social media to our mental health as people, mainly the younger generation. This study was done with two groups, a controlled group who used social media constantly, and an experimental group that was limited to thirty minutes of social media a day. This test was taken over the course of three weeks and they saw mental changes in the experimental group. Which included, improved moods, decreases in loneliness, and decreases in depression.

That was just over the course of three weeks. Imagine the changes you could go through if you did it longer. Although many people rely on their phones as an escape, some use it as a way to compare, Like you see a post and let's say it is of a couple. You see that post and immediately think, “ Man, I wish I had a perfect relationship like those two”. Don’t say no one has thought that cause I know most men and women these days have. You continue to compare yourself to people who solely only put the good parts of their life on these sites. When in reality they are going through a lot and making other people feel worse about their life just so you can create a “better” image for yourself.

You cannot decide how to feel in your life based on other people's lies and deceit. There isn't a human alive that is happy and chipper all the time without a single fault or a single moment where they long to be held or long to have friends. There will always be room to grow so don't stunt your growth by smoking the lies of deceivers. You cannot base your life off of a movie, tv show, or any other person but yourself. Keep your head up and I challenge you to cut yourselves off from social media and work and worry about yourself not about other people. Don’t let them win.

Chapter 6: Movie ratings, What does pollution cause?

What are these movie ratings? We have a rated R movie just for it having mild language? Even if there is a little too much skin it gets a rated R rating. While I agree having a rating is important so we dont show anything explicit to our own children I feel Giving a show a rated R just because it shows some ankle is a little bit much. Then there is the whole rating harshly just because the show has homosexual appearances. Not even doing anything gay, just mentioning something gay will make the rating more.

As stated in a previous chapter I do feel we should limit the amount of exposure our kids have to these kinds of situations. I also feel that they should be able to express themselves without the ratings being harsher just because of their beliefs and ways of life. That's like dating a christian movie rated R because you don’t agree with how they live and what they believe in. While as I stated before that they should be able to express themselves I do agree that it should not be rated PG or lower due to how kids will absorb that information.

People may disagree with me for this but it's how I truly feel about this. I cannot express enough that people are grading certain aspects of a movie based on the characters' way of thinking on the inside instead of what they portray on the outside and the way they express themselves to the other actors. That's why movies are not consistent with their ratings. They judge based on beliefs instead of the content within the movie itself.

Think about how these beliefs are polluting our world. The belief that anyone can throw anything out with no regard to how it affects other people. Pollution in our country is like war in other countries, it is everywhere and we never know how many lives are affected by it. Many families can drive past the same polluted house and not realize the health effects it has on them.

You can continue to pollute our country but eventually it will catch up with you and you won't expect it when it does. You have no regard for the environment that affects you. While you may not be causing much damage by yourself, if everyone in the world littered then the effects are way worse than with just you. Get it together.

Chapter 7: Stop, collaborate, and keep your hands to yourself.

While many people like to voice their own opinions which lawfully speaking is allowed. Though some of these people shouldnt be given that right due to the utter disrespect they give to other people while trying to voice their opinion. Not only that but their ideals that they voice are just ridiculous to think about. You cannot continue to place your ideals over other peoples. Everyone has the right to voice their opinions and when you voice yours then tell someone else to shut up because they're wrong, that is more disrespectful than most other acts of disrespect.

If you have an issue with someone's opinion you can do one of two things. You can keep your aggravated and delusional comments to yourself or you can listen to them as they listened to you and try to understand why they feel the way they do. If we just stop and collaborate our feelings and the stories of why we feel that way and actively listen to that person. Then we can begin to understand each other more and create a path to understanding.

Going back to idealistic stupidity, you cannot honestly believe any one ideal is right or wrong. Every ideal has some form of backlash but some are worse than others. If you honestly believe that your ideal is perfect then you are naive and need to rethink your life decisions. If you cannot be inclined to even listen to another person's ideals then your idiotic ideology shouldnt be heard either because no one is more important than another.

There is always something to learn no matter what age you are. At no point in someone's life do you know absolutely everything there is to know.

Chapter 8: Key takeaway, don’t be stupid

Guess what I'm going to say in this chapter. Don’t worry I’ll explain for you guys who don’t know. Do not be stupid. Never think your opinion is more important than someone else's. We are all equal and if you say that we are then act like it. Actions speak louder than words so even though you say one thing you will always be represented not by what you say but what you do.

If someone tells you a reason for why they feel a certain way and you choose to not listen to them for the sole reason that you don’t believe in what they believe, then you do not deserve the right to voice your opinion. Whether you base it on “facts” or not. Everyone at some point or another decides to disregard the bad for the good. There are always two sides of a coin. You have to choose the side with less wear and tear instead of covering up your flaws within yourself.

I am open to criticism. Please give me any thoughts you may have considering this start to a hopefully long writing career.

Review

Heya Lucius!
It may not be autumn yet, but NovemberCrow is here with quick review of your work!
First of all, I would like to start by saying that your work is not exactly a short story. Well, not at all. Short stories include short or longer fictional stories - but your work should be properly classified, for example, among essays (which is a category that we really have at YWS and we use a lot for works of this nature).
Next is the length. I understand you want to have all your work together - it really makes sense! But since your work is divided into smaller units, maybe you could try publishing them after e.g. three chapters, so one is not so overhelmed when reading.
But let's get to the review itself. I will try to leave out of it my personal opinions on what you have expressed here and rather focus on your work as a literary work, as it is. And speaking of opinions...I'd like to start with the title, which is a bit misleading.
The title says that this is the opinion of a person with ADHD on the world around them. Well, your essay hardly mentions ADHD and attention deficit disorder. The opinions you expressed here have nothing to do with ADHD. I also have ADHD, for example, and yet I disagree with you on many things. Do you understand what I mean?
This work is not from a point of view of person with ADHD but from yours point of view. I understand that you have ADHD (after all, we have this in common and I don't want to pretend that pretending that attention disorders don't exist is right - on the contrary.) but the fact that you have ADHD has nothing to do with the opinions you expressed here.
Those are your opinions, not opinions directly related to ADHD. Not at all related to ADHD.
In this essay, you decided to delve into somewhat more controversial topics - which I have no problem with. These topics need to be opened up and should be discussed. It can be seen that you have done some research on some topics, but on many it is again just your opinion. Which is fine. It's your essay. It is there for you to express yourself in it. But it's also true that at many points (perhaps consciously, perhaps unconsciously, I can't judge that anymore) you went into a mild insult rather than an explanation. The fact that some work is an expression of a personal opinion does not mean that a person should not be careful not to hurt someone with his statements.
But although at the end of the essay you talk about the fact that every coin has two sides and you need to see both sides, many parts of this essay are written from only one side of the coin (usually the one that is against the issue at hand). Perhaps, when writing longer articles dealing with more serious topics in the future, I would advise you to be careful not to take sides too much.
Essays like this should mostly work in the "these are the facts and this is my opinion" format - you show data that is true and then you can add your opinion to it if you want. Well, here in most cases you are simply speaking your opinion. In some parts working with some facts, in others purely talking about what you yourself think.
But let's move on - grammar. You have quite a lot of typos or wrong capitalization in this work. It's not a problem - everyone makes mistakes sometimes, it's important to know how to correct them. So maybe I would recommend you to sit down for this work one more time and work on capitalization and punctuation. Otherwise, I have nothing more to say about grammar.
He perceives that in this review I probably came across as a bit unpleasant or perhaps harsh - it was definitely not intentional, I'm simply trying to give you the best constructive criticism I can give you. Don't forget - take as much or as little from this review as you see fit.
Have a nice rest of day/night/whatever is in your timezone!

Here comes the villain arc...
That was a compliment. Anyways the way you portray the things happening in real life, fact after fact, is pretty great in my eyes. I'm a newbie fantasy writer but this article was pretty interesting, negative as it is.
Now, I don't really have much confidence but having more parts like this from part 4: "I say thou who sleepest around and finds a baby on the ultrasound" with old language would be pretty funny.
(I personally think getting drugged is not their fault, but I see your point)

I may borrow stuff from here as reference models for villains... More inspiration.

Of course you can. It is meant to be put as the raw reality of how our world currently is. While I understand how it can seem rude to state that if they are drugged then it's your fault. I mean in the grand scheme if me and my girlfriend decide to do drugs with the intention of doing the deed, we should still be held accountable for our actions. I respect others' feelings so I say this only to clarify for others who may take it the wrong way. You can most definitely use this for inspiration for your literary works. I hope it helps.
