Life

Life

I stood there motionless, I knew I was trembling and knew tears were dropping down from my eyes, but I couln't stop them. The truth is, I was frightened.Frightened of the past, with this house that used to be so joyful, and frightened of the future. I thought to myself that crying wouldn't help, but so what if I cried? Nothing mattered anymore, life is unfair and that is how it will always be.

I layed back on the couch to look through the window. Outside was a small girl walking and holding her mother's hand. She had curly blond hair with big blue wandering eyes. She seemed happy. She didn't have to think of what would happen next, she only had to behave and that would be sufficient enough.

The door bell rang, but I didn't get up. Instead, I sank back down to the bottom of the couch, it was comfortable, but I didn't care. The only thing going through my mind at that point was to stay calm and to take deep breaths. They didn't come back, but that didn't mean anything right?

There, now the person was knocking. Did he feel it was more polite to knock, or is he just bored of ringing? Either ways, he was making it clear to me, I had to answer.

I slowly stood up. It felt like my head was juddering in all directions as it was filled with anxiety. I walked the way up to the door, through the window I could see the sparkling red and blue lights, in other words it was the police. I was scared and could barely walk. But there was no way out of this one. I didn't have a choice. I had to answer.

I grabbed the golden door's handle, it was cold and greasy. I pushed down with all the force I had left and then pulled it. I looked straight forward to that unwelcomed visitor, I had been right, the man was a police officer. When I was small, I used to think policemen were helpful and always made people happy, but now i have changed my mind. The man was dressed in his uniform with a navy blue coat, black polished leather shoes, and a cap too big for him. I could see he was very muscular and had broad shoulders. On his badge I read the name Jerry.

He smiled at me as if everything was going to be fine, but I knew it wasn't. He then entered the room, walked past me, and told me to sit down with him on the couch. After came those damned words, which I wished had never existed, "I'm sorry. The engine caught fire and they got stuck. No one got the chance to get out."

I stared at him and wondered if he actually was sorry. I wondered if he knew how it felt like to know your entire family is dead. But I doubted the answers would be yes.

I nodded to him, and then understood. It doesn't matter whether you are rich, old, lucky, or even poor, because everyone always ends up in the same way-in a tomb. I can't explain how sad I was, but I knew that this had always been the way things were meant to be, whether i wanted it to be so, or not.

Hey Lolo.

The one thing, other than what Ethser pointed out, is that there are some uncapitalised I's. Your writing was beautiful and fluent, but those pesky little I's always seem to pop up. We all deals with those some time or another. Other than that, great.

Kudos to you my friend.

Hi! No, I wasn't planning on writing another chapter, it was just a small story I came up with yesterday night. For the part that says how comfortable the couch was, I did mean to write to write it this way. I was trying to say that the character was in such a bad state that she didn't care about anything anymore. For the other one, I know it isn't explained very well, but it was suppose to be about her family that didn't come back home, so she was worried that they could have died.

Lolo :)

Hey LoLo, I shall be reviewing you today.

Compelling! It was very attention grabbing. I don't know much about the characters yet though. Do you plan on writing another chapter, or was this just a one shot? I found a few things that didn't make much sense to me and I would like to point them out. Don't worry, they are minor!

Instead, I sank back down to the bottom of the couch, it was comfortable, but I didn't care.

The couch was comfortable, yet she didn't care? Perhaps you meant to say uncomfortable. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense for the first run through.

The only thing going through my mind at that point was to stay calm and to take deep breaths. They didn't come back, but that didn't mean anything right?

It appears the readers that you are saying that when you breathed in, the air didn't come back out. I don't think that is what you meant to say, but if it is you should rewrite it so it makes clearer sense.

Those were the only quotes that bothered me. The rest was solid! Remember to capitalize your I's. If you do that this piece would be nearly grammatically perfect. Good job and I look forward to reading more. PM me if you ever update.
