Cirque Du Freak

I offically read the longest series ever.

The Cirque Du Freak books definately have there high points and their low points. I think that Darren shan could have definately turned a 12 book series into a 6 book series if he left out some of the nonsense.

Its a very tedious series and several of the books like Hunters of the Dusk Allies of the Night and Killers of the Dawn could have very well been left out of the series entirely or turned into one book.

Not to mention all of the plot twists. It definately made the books confusing but some of them give the book a lot of originallity.

Its the ending the definately gives the series such a magnificent appeal. (and not because your finally done) I wouldn't want to give the ending away but I do believe that his final book, Sons of Destiny, is the best written book of any.

Read them if you've got three weeks of time to spare.

I have read the first three, I kind of branched away from them. I didn't get bored I just got tired of it being the same. I don't know.

You kidding? I couldn't put them down! And I read them--all 12--in one week!
I didn't bother going to see the movie, I could tell they messed it up too much but I loved the books!
Though I was actually surprised that I liked it despite the time travail (I normally hate time travail.)

And by the way, this was by no means the "longest series ever." I have read much longer.

I read most of these books in two days. I really like this series and I can't wait to pick up the last one and finish it out. I found the plot twists exciting and I really like Shan's style.

I loved the Saga. It was really good but again, I agree with the amount of exclamation marks, a bit annoying if you ask me !!!!! (Hehe)

I could knid of guess most of what happened but I still liked the series.

The ending of the last book was good.

I loved this series; I read the entire thing and am kind of sad its over. I have also started the Demonata series though that one isn't as good.

I really liked the books. I actually thought that the exclamation marks added a lot. There was usually some sort of twist at the end. I always made myself finish a chapter before I put it down so I could torure myself lol.

I do have to agree that his books are too short. I picked up book two and three of the Demonata series in the weekend, and finished them both in less than a day.

At least they're books that make me think about what'll happen next sometimes. A lot of books can't deliver one surprise!

Jules: You can buy the entire series as four books, each containing three of the stories: Vampire Blood Trilogy, Vampire Rites Trilogy, Vampire War Trilogy and Vampire Destiny Trilogy.

Your right about the exlamation points. I don't like to have to shout when I read to my cousins. Then again, its not the best thing to do, read four year olds stories about vampires.

I did definately love the books, I'm not saying they were bad. Its just really long.

Sureal, you are right about the predictablility. I knew before Harkart who he was. I got board reading and rearranged the letters in his name like they did with the teeth. Third try and I got it.

I agree with you sureal. Shan did use a bit too many exclamation marks.

They were very interesting. i enjoyed them. would of prefered if he had cut the series down because of the cost.
Or p[erhaps if he had made three of the books into on big one then he could have four books.

It was probably the publishers idea to make more money but they were overall enjoyable.

I think the last three books are the best, although most fans actually say they're the worst.

I didn't find the plot twists at all confusing - indeed, a number of them were too predictable in my opinion.

The series was actually origionally gonna be 24 books long - and I wish it was, cos the final three books really demonstrate how much Shan had improved as a writer.

The over-use of exclamation marks in the first half of the series is annoying, but thankfully he lays off them in the final half of the series.

Personally, I think his new series, the Demonata, is better. The first two books are amazing, although the third and fourth fail to leave up to them; I'm hoping the series hasn't peaked already.
