Heart of Stone

First of all, There was no punctuation in this poem resulting in a bit of confusion.

"I'm thinking
so very much
I feel like my heart is made of stone
except when I'm around you"

This part especially is really confusing without the punctation. Since the first two lines "I'm thinking so very much" could be one idea and "I feel like my heart is made of stone except when I'm around you" could be another, a period could be placed after much. However, if the ideas are meant to be connected, try a comma or semi-colin.

Secondly, the third and fourth lines:

"I feel like my heart is made of stone
except when I'm around you"

makes the poem seem a little incomplete. What does the phrase "heart is made of stone" mean? And why would you're heart be made of stone? Wouldn't it make more sense if you're heart felt like it was melting without the other person and when in their presence, you feel of stone because they provide strength? I could be wrong, but it sounds a lot like this person has or had anger problems and only when they are around this person are they able to control themself. Not a bad idea, but if this is the idea, you may want to point that out a little bit more.

Also, I found the poem contradictory.

You give me life
you give me personality
Why are you the way you are?
It’s so perfect
I hate it

It is obvious that the contradiction was intentionally put into the poem. But why it was put into the poem isn't really explained throughtout the poem. The whole thing is a mixture of conflicting emotion and perhaps a bit of uncertainty, and again, it isn't a bad idea. However, it isn't really explained. Did the other person do something that made the character hate them and love them at the same time? Was it the way this character was brought up?

In my own contradiction, I have listened to a song that does a similar thing. This is the lyrics to the song. It's called Always if you want to look at it. It may help a little bit.

This is sweet. I completely see where you are coming from. It is like falling in love with the unreachable, the untouchable. I love this half particularly where you say:

and it makes me happy

I could just see you looking at the one you love, with love and compassion, but with hate that he seems to be out of reach. Like maybe he even friend zoned you. I love it. So relatable and open for interpretation. Very well written.
