Chances Are

NOTE: Don't go looking for a meaning in these lyrics; there isn't any.

(Verse)
Suddenly I realize
As I sit in my cell tonight
There’s no tomorrow for the Weak
Push on, cast yourself the dice
Chances are you’ll get outrun
Because we all know the Devil waits on no one
My position, a defining will
Force yourself to take the pill
The only way to escape
Sail away on my rowboat
Everything will be okay.

(Chorus)
Call me the executioner
I just prowl around
Through the junkyard
Stroll into town
Take your children
Take your wife
Kill your husband
Break your life

(Verse)
Quick confession
You never should have trusted me
Now you’ve lost your dignity
If it was up to me
I’d destroy everything
We’ve built ourselves up
But now I’ll drag us down
Just to see the look on your face
Run away
Play Russian Roulette every day
You’ll find you’re no better than me

(Bridge)
It’s all here and now
You’ve ran into a brick wall
Nowhere to hide now
Time’s up, let’s play
Your odds aren’t so great
But it’s okay
I’ll still make it worth your while
So stay with me
This rowboat’s swaying
The waves are churning
It’s time to play the game

This was a good piece, but I think it is more poetry than lyrics. Also, I couldn't find a tune to it. Good, but doesn't belong in the Lyrics section.

I enjoyed your lyrics, and I did fnd something behind your lyrics. Which I guess means a freak. But I thought they seemed to be coming a Reaper following someone around until their death. But thats just me. I don't have anything else to say really.

Hi there :)

NOTE: Don't go looking for a meaning in these lyrics; there isn't any.

This did not encourage me to read this. Plus I think you really should have a meaning, since that's one of the main points of having lyrics, isn't it? Otherwise you could just have the music and nonsense lyrics, right? [I'm not saying that you need a message, just that your lyrics need to convey something.]

I liked it anyway. You've got great rythm, no over-rhyming or such and you tie everything together nicely.

Sail away on my rowboat
Everything will be okay.

Sailing is quite a peaceful image and these two lines build quite a contradictionary image to the rest of the verse. I can't decide wether I like that or not.

I guess I do, since it comes up again in the end.

Hmmm... These lyrics are a bit confusing to me.

For example:

Through the junkyard
Stroll into town
Take your children
Take your wife
Kill your husband
Break your life

Why?

I think you could make these quite a bit clearer. Tie things together more. I think what partly gets me confused is all this imagery. At the beginning it sounds like the narrator is in jail ('cell'). Then he/she talks about escapng in a boat (How is that going to work, I wonder.). Then all these casiono images. Maybe it would be better to choose one image and stick with it.

I really do like your flow and word choice, though ;)

All the best,
