Parallel: What I didn't learn in math

Remember how in math we learned to
add, and I said
You + Me <3

(You plus me is less than 3.)

And you didn’t understand what I meant.
It was just another math problem that
didn’t make sense, so you tore it in half
and tossed it away.

Then we moved on to Algebra and we threw
each other pick-up lines like
Substitute my x, and don’t ask y.
But you never really meant it.
And I was sitting there trying to make an equation
so I could substitute your ex, for real.

And now I’m solving multi-variable integrals
and staring at you from across the room,
and I don’t know what they taught me in basic arithmetic;
cause I still can’t put you and I together,
and that’s all the math I care for.

Spoiler! :
There is another poem in this theme with the tile 'Parallel'. It is not necessarily connected to this piece but I chose Parallel as the encompassing theme for all my math love poetry, as math and I just never seem to meet.;) I would also like to add that the pick-up line was something I heard from a friend which seemed apt for the poem. I credit it to the nerds who have some swagger when picking up girls.XD

Hey Knight,
Actually, I think that your first poem entitled "Parallel" was the first piece I reviewed on YWS. xD.
Yes, I'm a nerd. Yes, I'm blown away by this. You have such a clever writing style and voice. Is it easy to come up with all of these puns and clever lines? This poem was really nice and well written, and I'm sorry to say that I have no criticizm for you. Keep up the good work.

I believe you've just summed-up almost every nerd's life through this poem. Just, wow. And no, I'm not a nerd. I'm the odd one out. :D

Loved all these lines, but especially the first stanza that I quotted. This poem reminds me of high school and those games that teenagers play inside their mind when they start to discover love. :) Sweet.

I am deeply disturbed by your ability to meow.
