The Mark of the Lion

If you're having trouble finding a book to read, I recommend these books! They're written by Francine Rivers. Note: They have many mature elements in them. Not graphic sex or anything, mind you, but they are written for adults. Next to the Twilight series, it's my favorite series out there!

Description: Takes place in Ancient Rome. The main character is a young slave girl. Her and the master's son fall in love, of course, but there are many obstacles, and something happens to the girl (of course I'm not going to tell you what).

I don't want to give anything else away. Just thought I'd let you know, that if you're bored with the Barnes & noble selection and have read anything worth reading (which I have until Twilight book 4 comes out), these are the books to read.

I found Rizpah ANNOYING. More so than Bella. She was always all, "Oh give me my son" and she seemed really weepy and self-righteous at times. Like the time she wouldn't tell Atretes who killed that Roman? I forget his name....

Yeah. I guess Twilight is more relatable...I don't know. I can't relate to Bella being crazy fall-off-a-moutain-and-die about Edward. She's kind of too...hysterical, maybe?

Personally my favorite character in the Mark of the Lion series was Rizpah. As Sure as the Dawn was possibly my favorite book out of the three as well.

lol... I'm sorry. But I do like Twilight more. I can relate to Bella more than I can to Hadassah. Though don't get me wrong - I love them both with all my heart.

Yeah, well, Atretes is cool too...but I don't know.

Twilight beats Mark of the Lion???? What is wrong with this world??? Do you pick up Twilight when you feel alone and outcasted? Do you pick up Twilight for miracles, hot guys, God, warriors, and Ancient Rome? Seriously...what's the world coming to?

Gahhh, these are incredible books! My mom read them and developed a small crush on Marcus. :D

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill —The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another.
