Robots

If we spend a billion more they’ll almost be like us,
The TV mathematician said,
These rubber bands here work like nerves,
We’ve sprayed the arteries red.

Feel this flexi-plastic handshake,
Jerky still but getting better,
It’s brand new societal contact software,
Just like a human, almost to the letter…

They fight amongst themselves you see,
When you leave them close together,
We separate them over night,
It’s a shame but they have to be tethered.

We’ve noticed under observation,
They’re actually very discerning,
They notice differences in each other,
Some do claim this is concerning.

Strangely the question I’m asked the most,
Is probably “what’s the point”?
Why spend thousands, millions even,
Perfecting a single joint?

I’m afraid I simply can’t comprehend,
How anyone can hold this view,
When the reason that we’re doing this,
Is to create something just like you…

I really enjoyed reading this poem. At first, I though that it was a little strange, but during the last two stanza's, I think you really provoked an emotion. When I read the last line, I literally got chills. I liked how you took something perfectly normal, and then made it super creepy. Good job!

Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.
— Mark Twain
