The artist uses imagination to see,
not just what something is made of,
or how it works.
The artist sees what it is, what value it
has in itself, what beauty is posseses.
He sees the richness of life, not content on
merely existing, but making something out of life.
He takes up the clay, dull, grey and shapeless.
The artist kneads the clay, forcing out pockets
of air entrapped within the lump of clay.
We are in God's hands, just like clay in the potter's
hands.
God kneads us, pushing and pulling, applying pressure
to squeeze out weaknesses and imperfections, before
they become permanent fatal flaws.
God is the potter, we are the clay
God is the artist, we are the creation.
He holds the paintbrush and paints the picture of life,
speaking it into existence and making us the centre
of the painting.
We have flaws and rough edges but he smoothes them out
and turns it into a masterpiece.
He adds in the finishing touches, calling us what we
were made to be.

Heyy InfinityandBeyond! Sapphire to the review!

Nice username!
First of all I liked your piece! its really good and also conveys a really good message to all readers.
"God is the potter, we are the clay
God is the artist, we are the muse''.
I liked the above lines just loved it!
''We are in God's hands, just like clay in the potter's
hands".
These lines are just good and nice!
The only thing that I would like to mention about is the consistency of words that needs to be maintained in each line of you're stanzas.
Otherwise its a really good poem and also I loved the topic you chose.
Good luck!
Have a nice day
FuturAuthor,
SapphireFlames.
I'm not sure if we're God's muses, since that would imply He was inspired by us, but that was the only line that seemed a bit off to me in that regard.
I love the meaning of this poem. I always love running into awesome poems on YWS and it's a lovely bonus when they're also deep and being Christian, deep, awesome poems: I'm ecstatic.
I think you did a really good job writing this poem; starting with the description of the artist and then going on to talk about how God is The artist.
It's a BEAUTIFUL metaphor, I love this poem. Great imagery, great message. Wonderful, wonderful job.
Thank you for writing this poem.
Hope this review helped. Happy Review Day. God bless.

So, this time I actually read the review you already had.
This way I can avoid saying the same things. I do agree with dogs that this could use a bit more imagery and/or figurative language.
Feel free to continue sending me your pieces, I enjoy reading your work!
However, I can of like the long lines. I mean, paint flows, right, so maybe the lines can be longer, like the extended stroke of a paintbrush.
You have some typos, you mispelled artist at the very beginning and had an extra s in there somewhere. I noticed a few others, so you should read over this once more and get rid of those.
I love the line, the artist uses imagination to see. I feel like this can apply to writers just as much as any other artist. You've captured the essence of art, which I love reading. I also love "not content in merely existing" again, something I feel as a writer, and I believe, as a Christian. There's so much more than existence, and a lot of times the more has to come through kneading, as you describe later on in the poem. Beautiful.
One suggestion I have, is that you merge the comparison of God as an artist some more. It seemed to me like you made a pretty dramatic jump from artist to God, it would be nice if you could find a way to flow into God being the artist without just saying it straight out.
"We have flaws and rough edges but he smoothes them out
and turns it into a masterpiece"
I love that part as well, so true, and so simply worded. It's nice to read fancy poems with tons of metaphorical language and meaning and hidden levels every once in a while, but a lot of time I like to just have things simple and stated the way they are, like this. Sometimes the best way to speak is just by speaking, and I think that's something you've got down. All in all, lovely poem.

Hello there Infinity! Dogs here with your review. Okey dokey, as always you have a great voice and idea for your poetry. Good concept to use, great potential to be poetic, although as I read this it feels like I'm reading a speech or a lecture rather than a piece of poetry. Reason being is because you describe too much instead of showing. You tell us instead of painting a picture and use metaphors or similes. You need more imagery in your writing, if you don't want to use imagery you can get away with that, but you have to use metaphors than. So maybe say something like: "His brush molding each detail, flowing like a river"

Applying those details to your writing will make it more imaginative and more interesting to read. You have an excellent topic, having a higher being take the role of a painter, crafting and molding their creates. It's just a matter of adding a poetic sense and feel to it.
Another thing that will help that out is the spacing. Especially at the last stanza you have lines that are just far too long. What happens when you have long lines is that it immediately breaks up your rhythm of your piece and it just drags on. Break all your long lines such as: "He adds in the finishing touches and calls us what we were made" into:
"He adds the finishing touches,
calling us what we were made
to be."
That'll look better and it sounds smoother.
So as always, marvelous ideas for your writing but just needs a little bit more push and than you'll be running in the right direction. Let me know if you ever need a review, keep up the good work!
