Darkness is everywhere. It is the feeling of fear at night, when there is no light; it is the place residing in your brain and heart that are filled with greed and malice. Darkness resides everywhere, you cannot hide from it, and once it grabs you very few can escape its grip. Every day you live you gather more and more darkness. You collect it, unaware that you are slowly being corrupted.
Now every villain, in this case darkness, has an enemy, a hero so to speak. In this case the hero’s can be scarier than the villain itself. On this earth there are people born to be vessels, created to perform one task, store darkness. That is their only purpose in life. These people, or rather beings, are the ones that carry the heavier burden. They collect massive amounts of darkness, taking the load off of Innocents. These beings are called Angels.
Angels protect Innocents from turning into Daemon. Daemons are the Innocents who try to store the power of darkness and can’t handle it. They are the ones who attempt to become Angels but aren’t born for the job. If they’re lucky they’ll die before their time, if they are not they will live as beings driven insane by the darkness, also known as Daemons.
I am an Angel. I have lived on earth for seventeen years lurking in the shadows and trying to store darkness the best I can. My name is Hope. I am named for the memory of the old Greek tale about a young foolish Innocent named Pandora. She was the mother of curiosity, the one who let darkness escape. She had one job, to not open a box given to her by the ‘Gods’, but she became curious and opened it ignoring the God’s warnings. As soon as she opened it all of the darkness was released into the world. Panicking she closed the box before the one ray of light called Hope could escape. Thus I am named after that light that’s forever trapped in a box.
My parents are Fallen Angels. Ones who have completed their duty and lost their wings left to live the world as Mortals, not Innocents exactly but, different. The darkness does not reside within them and rather they are pure, reborn. They live like regular citizens and try to do what they can to help Innocents.
The best way to do this is to become a priest, and that’s exactly what they did. They both became priests in church, using the Innocent’s beliefs as a cover to baptize them, exorcising the darkness that lies within them. This is different from an Angels duty, who store the darkness until they become Fallen Angels and Exorcise it all permanently. Priests store small pieces at a time. The Holy Water they use to baptize Innocents is the storage place, as opposed to the wings of an Angel. After trapping the darkness in the water the Priests keep it locked up so it doesn’t escape.
Angels age for the first 10 years of their life at a normal pace, but, after ten the aging process slows down and they stay at the age of sixteen until their duties are done. An angel is born with pure white wings, by the time they are ready to become Fallen Angels and have their wings fall off, the feathers are pitch black. Now, Angels wings aren’t exactly what you’d expect, they aren’t visible to Innocents or REAL Mortals but Daemons and Fallen Angels can see them.
I guess I’d better explain myself better. Mortals are those who have escaped from the darkness. They were once Innocents but decided to better themselves and ignore the darkness becoming Mortals, or they were Innocents who were saved. So a summary is: Daemons are those who embrace the darkness, Angels the ones who Store it than exorcise it, Fallen Angels those who are Ex-Angels, Priests are Fallen Angels or Mortals who lock it up, Mortals the ones that ignore it, and Innocents are the ones getting corrupted by it.
I am an Angel, my duty is to exterminate all darkness.

Whoa, I'm hooked! I want to know more! The idea you set up for this world feels both fascinating and unique. Usually I can go on and on about things that need fixing but when I get drawn into something they way I was to this, I forget any problems it may have had. Looking back over it, I still have to say it's very well written! You're fluent and easy to understand and your occasional use of repetition works wonderfully to catch the reader's attention. I'm looking forward to more!
Thank you
Whoa, I'm hooked!
Amazing introduction, the main Character isn't even introduced yet and i could read the entire thing without noticing. This is a prologue right?; and what comes with a prologue must be a story right? Continue writing, although I must say, "Angels" and "Daemons" are touchy words to use in a book. Because many religious people will be somewhat...hmm...how should I put it...slightly diverded from the path that you are trying to lead in your book. I am not however, so I would like to read more.
I was thinking about that too XD

The angels and Daemons thing... still... I don't know what else to use
And I kind of am going against the norms so yeah XD
I kind of got nervous about the whole using religion as a cover for really taking away darkness but I don't Know.
I am not saying this is what I think I am honestly just writing a story.
Thanks for the feedback though
If anyone has a problem with it if they could give me other suggestions it's be great but I don't have any of my own XD
Thaks for reading!
I'm super happy you enjoyed it
And I will continue, it's not over yet!
Be sure to go over your work throughly too for errors in your work before posting, I learned the hard way, in my work called "The Race of Numbers", I put the epilogue in the beginning by mistake :p
Keep writing, even if nobody is there to enjoy it it your real life(like me).
Thanks for the tip

And I'm glad I have a 'not real person there looking out for me
Oh wait what errors?
"That is there only purpose in life." In the second paragraph, "there" is supposed to be "their." And sorry, my emotions spilled a bit...so anyway...keep writing.
Thank you!!!
And emotion spilling is a fact that proves you're human XD
No, I'm a Number....(inside joke)
Could see that happening XD
