To my brave & Dear Brother

I made a mistake in the last one saying I knew I'd probably never see him again :-/

Dear William,

It was 1 1/2 years ago since I last saw you and gave you a hug. I know that we'll meet in heaven one day, but I miss you dearly. After you went away to Afghanistan, I didn't think I'd never get to hug you again, never get to hear that long, deep laugh of yours. Hear you make up the funniest things on the spot -- No, brother, I didn't. I took it all for granted, I thought you'd come back alive, and we'd get to go places again. I remember the time when I was having a really hard time in math and you came and helped me -- it hurts, and hurts bad! I miss you dearly, and I love you! I am so glad I got to spend thirteen years of my life with the best brother in the world. I don't have any siblings to play with, and now I am lonely. Moms at work all the time and dad is far away. William, remember when we took our BB guns and shot those apples on top of the posts? We had a blast -- saying they were evil orcs from the Lord of the Rings. I have a picture of you right before you went away, I keep it with me wherever I go, I've had lots of copies made. William, do you remember the time you and I were going to go on a rollercoaster and I was too short? Well, do you remember that you decided not to go on it because I cried? And then you went on a baby ride with me. William, I long for a long, brotherly hug from you. God blessed me with the best brother ever -- and the bravest! You died in the war, brother, and I honor you for that, you are very brave! I love you! I remember the time when mom couldn't braid my hair and you said you would, and even though it was sloppy, you tried your best for me. William, the pain hurts, it's a deep, deep scar that will never go away. Remember the day you took me out to the small cafe with your last twenty dollars? I'll never forget that. William, I have a huge book of photos of you -- you and I. I love you William, and I miss you! Meet me again in Heaven!

Always love, forever and ever,

Jenna

Hey Jenna! :)

I'm assuming that it's your real life story since you've posted this in Other. And to be honest, it's a really well written piece. it's actually touching, really. Mostly I've read stuff about people writing to their deceased parents or lovers but this is actually the first time I've seen such a strong piece about siblings' relationship-it's a really beautiful one.

I don't have a sibling and I know how low it feels to be alone when you're out for holidays and your parents are busy in their work. So, I can totally associate with you, Jenna! You know, it's really hard to get over such a grief but I have to tell you that it's awesome that you're remembering all the wonderful things you did with him. Like the old saying goes, Don't cry because it's over, but smile because it happened.

And I love the fact that you're sure you'd meet him in Heaven. Love the positive thinking.
