- This is actually from my novel, but I think it works just as well as a simple poem. It got me through a difficult English lesson by writing this.
“Sinking into the sea of parody
She felt as though her whole world was slipping away.
As though the pain she felt would never leave.
Ever.
Her tears fell like crystal tears of shattering pain.
Finding the ripped paper, she paused
One word split like her heart;
Shattered in two
Gone forever like so much else
Sunlight had become a ghost; invisible to her
Her name sounded in the distance; hurriedly.
She wished she hadn’t heard.
He’d ruined it all.
Shattered her confidence.
Gone forever, or so she believed.
The worst part? She was never enough
For anything.
Shadowed by those prettier;
Smarter;
Better.
She felt worthless.
Her only expression had always been to write; but she felt dead.
Like a fragile book cover hanging on like a thread
WRITE!
The word sounded like a canon blast,
Jolting her from her world of pain.
The pen trembled in her fingers but the familiarity made it run wild.
Like a zebra in a clearing.
A new day was beginning to dawn; a new life
For her.
The shattered China Doll.”

Hello Miss Aimee xD I'm here to review.
I can honestly say, this is a beautiful piece. But I wish I knew what it was about >_>
But that is the mystery with writing poetry, isn't it?
Sometimes the reader has no idea what it is about, so it's open for interpretation.
My interpretation was that of a girl being forced through school and the social
status it puts her, comparing herself to ones who are better, prettier etc.
But that's my interpretation.
I quite like it though, hope to see the novel where this comes from! (:
