The copper sun was slowly rising into the dark starry sky. Pink spread across the night sky. The pale moon gently diapered from view. The sun’s reflection was seen on the smooth ice. The sun’s heat gradually crept into Queen Silvia’s room.
The Ice Wyvern sluggishly opened her eyes. She steadily got up and walked over to her bedroom window to watch the sunrise. A gold crown was resting on a small table near the window. Silvia picked up the crown and ran one of her talons over the blue diamond in the center, she placed the crown neatly on her white scaled head and moved away from the table.
A soft breeze drifted into the big room. The smell of morning air filled the icy blue room.
‘It is a lovely day today. I think I will have a nice long fly around the kingdom to day once I have gotten somethings done.’ Silvia thought walking out of the room and down the hall to Sheeka’s room.
The palace was still faced a sleep. Here and there groaning noises could be here from the bedrooms. Silvia liked to wake up early so she could get some work done before the hull palace woke up, and started to bug her with their complaints.
On the way Silvia passed the library and saw Talon was up.
‘What is he doing up at this time?’ Silvia thought a little shocked.
Talon was leaning over a big piece of stone. He had this long pointy stone in his talon and he had a hammer in his other talon. He was taping the hammer against the long pointy stone and it made little lines in the slab of stone.
Silvia stood in the entrants for a little while watching Talon work. She could see small pieces of stone fall onto the floor when Talon bangs the stone with his hammer and the long pointy rock.
Silvia slowly walked into the room and whispered, “Talon!”
“Ah!” the old dragon yelped and dropped his tools on the floor. Then whipped around to face the Queen, “O-oh-y-you’re-highness. W-w- what are you doing up at this time?”
“I all ways wake up at this time Talon,” Silvia said to him trotting over to the peace of stone Talon was working on, “Why are you up?”
“Oh- uh I thought I could get some work dose early. Is that okay with you?” Talon asked.
“Yes, yes I was just asking. Don’t get all skittish around me,” Silvia laughed, Silvia turned around and walked out of the library and out into the hall way.
Talon watched her walk away then picked up his tools off of the floor and took a deep breath then carried on working.
‘That was wired. Why was he so scared of me? Did I say something wrong? Are is he the killer dragon and he was afraid that I had found that out is that why?’ Silvia thought with suspicion.
When Queen Silvia got to Sheeka’s bedroom she saw the small Ice Serpent curled up in a tight ball of scales. Her bed was under one of her bedroom windows, she had a small table next to her bed, and on that table was a stone tablet. It was neatly polished and clean.
‘Sheeka is not up yet. Hmm, I guess I will have a fly or a walk around the kingdom now then.’ Silvia thought walking out of the room and down the hall again to the main entrance.
Silvia walked into the room and saw that everything was clean. A light blue ice Shandilya hung from the ceiling. Bursts of worm sunlight came through the diamond shaped windows. Under every window stood a guard. The guards where dressed in well made metal amour. Everyone one of the guards had a well sharpened spear in their right talon. When they saw Silvia enter the room they bowed low immediately.
“Good morning,” Silvia said to them, walking over to the door.
“Good morning your highness,” they said back to her.
The guards near the door opened it for the Queen. As it opened it made a lowed squeaking noise. The sun’s light came rushing into the room when the door was fully opened.
Silvia took one more look at the guards then noticed something.
“Where is Silverblade?” Silvia asked.
“Oh he is out on patrol your highness,” One of the guards said to her.
“Okay. Let me know when he is back,” Silvia ordered.
The guard nodded his head and stepped back in to formation. Silvia stepped outside and herd the door close behind her. Sweet smelling wind smacked against Queen Silvia’s face.
‘Maybe I will take a walk in the garden. Over there it all ways seems to calm me down.’ Silvia thought heading down a long pathway that headed to the royal garden.
After a few minutes Queen Silvia started to think about other things. ‘Hmm, I wonder where Silverblade is. I’m a bit surprised that he went on patrol. I wonder if he went by himself. Anyway at least he is doing his job.’
Silvia finely got to the royal garden, she walked in to the small area and looked around her. She could see small and delicate flowers that had popped out of the cold snow. Silvia gently touched one of the flowers fragile petals with one of her talons. All the flowers in the garden where and ice blue. The cold weather had turned the flowers in to ice. Big trees towered over Silvia like giants. Their tree trunks where turning into tiny ice crystals. Silvia ran one of her talons over the ruff bark.
“Why isn’t this making me feel better?” Silvia asked herself, walking out of the garden and down the path again.
She walked back to the main entrance and sat by the door. ‘I really don’t know why I’m worried about Silverblade. Why am I thinking about him? Really he is the head of my guard he can look after himself. So if I know that, why am I so worried about him? Silvia Silverblade can look after himself!’ Silvia thought to herself with frustration. She got to her feet and took one more look at the rising sun, then she started to head for the door.
Suddenly there were wing beets not for away. Silvia whipped around to see who was come. She bared her teeth ready to fight. Her tail lashed in the air ready to lash it at the dragon that was heading her way. His scales was a silvery colour. He has glassier blue eyes, and he was flying at a very fast speed.
When Silvia could reach for him with her tail she whacked him in the face with the pointy part of her tail. The dragon let out a howl of pane and fell to the drowned in front of Silvia.
“Don’t you dear move or I will whack you again!” Silvia hissed at the Ice Wyvern. There where small scratched along his face and small drops of blood fell from them.
“Why_ why would you do that?” the dragon wined in pane.
“No talking! I’m no fool! I know you tried to attack me!” Silvia growled at the strange dragon.
“What no I didn’t!” he protested, “Why would I try and kill you Silvia?”
“I don’t know!” Silvia said, “Maybe you could tell me.”
The Ice Wyvern got to his feet and looked at the Queen with his blue eyes. He gently touched the scratch marks on his face and frowned when he saw the blood.
“SILVERBLADE!” Silvia said in shock.
“He, he, he. See now you know I wouldn’t try and kill you,” Silverblade told her with a smile.
“What do you need Silverblade? Because the speed you were flying at it seemed to be that you have something really important to tell me,” Silvia asked him.
“Yes there is something you need to know,” Silverblade looked away from the Queen and down at his talons.
“Do we need to talk about the matter inside?” Silvia asked pouting a talon on Silverblade’s shoulder.
“Know there is no time for that. My Queen there has been another attack.” Silverblade said pouting his head in his talons.
“WHAT!” Silvia roared. Anger and rage started to spread across her face like an infection, “But how could that be?”
“I don’t know. But all I know is that the fight was at Ridged Cliffs.” Silverblade said looking up at the Queen, “All so I think we should go now to have a look at the place.”
Silvia nodded her head and spread her wings and took to the sky. Silverblade took to the sky after her. Their white wings shone in the sunlight as they flew over the Frozen Tundra.
‘How could this have happened? Silverblade has guards flying all over the place looking for this dragon, and now we miss him. This dragon is smarter then we think.’ Silvia thought as she scanned the ground below her with her eagle eyes.
She flew next to Silverblade and asked him, “Did you see the dragon?”
Silverblade shook his head and looked at the Queen and said, “No I didn’t. I got there just as the fight ended. I didn’t get to see anything. This dragon is a very tricky one. We should fly lower to the ground we might see something there.”
So they both tucked their wings in close to their sides and dived down. At the very laced second they whipped their wings open caching a worm air current.
A long slow running river ran right through the Frozen Tundra. The water was a diamond blue. The sun’s light shimmered onto the water making it look like crystals. The small deep blue diamond in the middle of Queen Silvia’s crown caught the light of the sun as she flew.
Silverblade’s blue eyes scanned the ground below. After a few minutes he stopped and glided down to the ground like a falcon searching for pray. Silvia saw him and followed him down. They both landed in the snow with a thud.
Silverblade looked all around him and said to Silvia, “We should walk the rest of the way. If this killer dragon is still there then he or she won’t see us coming,”
Silvia nodded her head and followed Silverblade. They both looked like wild cats stalking through the thick snow.
‘Wow Silverblade really knows what he is doing. But I’m Queen and I’m following him, no this is not right I’m going to take the lead.’ Silvia thought, then ran in front of Silverblade so it looked like she was in the lead.
Behind her Silverblade was just looking at her with his normal frown. “Okay I don’t know what that was for,” he mumbled under his breath.
But Silvia herd what he said and she told him that she is the Queen and she should be in the lead. Silverblade just sighed and agreed with her. So Silvia went ahead of him and ducked low into the snow.
Finally they got to Ridged Cliffs big trees and a mountain side towered over them. Small bits of rock fell from the mountain side, one of the small bits of rock fell on to Silverblades head.
“OW!” he yelped, rubbing his head. “First I get slashed in the snout, now I have a saw head. Really is everyone and everything out to get me today?”
“Oh come on Silverblade stop being a baby it was only a bump on the head,” Silvia told him with a small giggle.
“You’re forgetting one more thing,” Silverblade grumbled, rubbing his snout. Small dried fragments of blood came off of his snout as he did so.
“Oh that, well I’m sorry I thought you were someone else!” she exclaimed.
“Well next time be more-,” Silverblade started.
“Silverblade will you be quit!” Silvia scolded, pouting one of her talons over his snout to stop him from talking.
Silverblade just looked at her and tried to get her talon off of his snout. Not far away from them there was a small rustling of leaves in the bushes.
Silvia let go of Silverblade’s snout and stalked up to the bush. Silverblade just watched her then slowly followed her. In one swift motion Silvia lunged into the bush. But what she thought was the killer dragon hiding in the bush was just an arctic fox. Silvia came stomping over to Silverblade and shook her head. So they started walking around again.
‘Really I’m getting tired of this. Why can’t this dragon stop killing? Silverblade doesn’t seemed bothered by all of the things that is happening at all.’ Silvia thought.
Suddenly Silverblade stopped in his traces behind Silvia.
“What is it Silverblade?” Silvia asked walking up next to him.
“This is where the fight happened,” Silverblade told her, “As you can see there are claw marks in the trees, and there are small drops of blood on the ground.”
“Hmm, this dragon has really big claws,” Silvia whispered to Silverblade, running one of her talons over one of the clawed up trees. “I wonder how old he is?”
“My Queen we should be looking for tracks to show where he went,” Silverblade said to her.
“Silverblade what do you think I’m doing? Just wondering around doing nothing? Hmm?” Silvia hissed at him.
Silverblade shook his head at her. Then went off to look for tracks. Silvia watched him walk away.
‘Silverblade is acting funny today. I better find out what’s going on.’ Silvia thought to herself, as she looked around.
She looked at one of the clawed up trees, looking at the claw marks. ‘He is a really big dragon, so it must be a male.’ Silvia thought, looking at the drops of blood that had fell onto the snow.
“Silverblade!” Silvia called.
Silverblade can running out of the woods towards Silvia, “Yes my Queen?”
“Something is not right.” Silvia told him looking around some more, “I mean just look around, do you see any dead serpent?”
“You have a point. Well all we can do is keep looking,” he told her.
A few hours had passed and Silvia and Silverblade had found nothing. Silvia was sitting in the snow with her head in her talons. While Silverblade was pacing bake and forth.
“We must have mist something!” Silverblade growled, stopping in his tracks then looking at the Queen.
“Maybe we did. But I’m not sure what. All we know is that this dragon is big and could be very well a male,” Silvia hissed is distress, “And that is not very helpful is it?”
“Of cores it isn’t helpful!” Silverblade snarled, “I’m going to have another look around your hipness.”
“Oh of cores. I will be here waiting for you,” Silvia said with a smile. Silverblade slowly walked back into the dark forest. Silvia watched him walk away then noticed something! She slowly got to her feet and walked after to Silverblade. She found him looking at a tall tree with drops of deep read blood on it.
“Silverblade!” Silvia hissed at him. Silverblade’s head whipped around to face the Queen, “Why is there blood on you right talon?”
“What!” Silverblade yelped and lifted his right talon to see what Silvia was talking about, “Oh about that ha, ha, ha, I stood in a little bit of blood when I was walking around. Nothing to worry about. But I did find this.” Silverblade held up a small silver scale so Silvia could see.
“Let me see that!” Silvia said, taking the scale from Silverblade’s talons. “Hmm, Silverblade the scale looks like one of your scales!Silverblade are you the killer dragon?”
