They say the cat is out of the bag...

They say the cat,
Is out of the bag.
But what do they mean?
Which bag? Which cat?

Why was a cat
Put into a bag?
Who put it in?
Who took it out?

What did the cat
Do to deserve it?
Suffocate, die,
For what?

But the cat does not die,
For do they not say?
The cat, poor thing,
Is out of the bag!

Blessed the one,
Who freed the trapped feline –
And cursed be the one,
Who did cruelly ensnare!

But what if the cat,
Was still in the bag?
What would we say,
If the cat was still there?

Years later, the poor thing,
Starved and dead,
Might be found in the prison –
An old paper bag.

But for what,
I still ask,
Did the small creature do?
To be put in a bag, hidden from sight?

Did he chase a mouse?
Did he catch a fish?
Is the bird gone from his perch?
What did the poor kitty do?

For once, I am glad,
Of the saying they say,
That the cat, the poor thing,
Is out of the bag.

For who would we blame?
If the feline had died,
Who would be sorry?
Should it not be alive?

They say the cat,
Is out of the bag.
But what do they mean?
Which bag? Which cat?

...just a little bit of nonsense I wrote one day recently. I was wondering what a small child would think when they first heard the expression.

Thankyou. Yes, I think I agree. Quite a bit too long. However, I wrote it when I was bored, and I was reluctant to finish it off, if you know the feeling that I mean.

Thankyou again,

This started out really great. I love the first few stanzas. They made me smile. But I think that you carried it a bit too far and dragged it out a bit too long. I think if you kept it a little shorter it would work better.

But over all, nice job. *gives Eslyssa a thumbs up and smiles*
