Wow, this is incredible, and I didn't even mind the formatting because the poem itself was so good!! This is bound to be a very short review because of how much I love this poem and how much I feel that it relates to me, I don't have very many negative things to say about it. I love how gentle it is, and the flow is smooth through almost the whole poem. I like how you started it with “And Behind..." It added depth and character to the beginning. Excellent way to start off
I want to say which lines I like best, since I love them all that would take a lot of rambling. I like how you added just a touch of romance without making it too “lovely dovey."

I felt that this was about a very strong, very misunderstood girl who has much to offer the world but can't because her strength is frail when it comes to the opinions of others. She is obviously the type of person who, when she has weak points, they are very much so, and vice versa for her talents and good qualities. The one thing she does best is LOVE.
I'm sorry if I'm reading way to much into this poem or misunderstanding it at all. But poetry is what the reader takes from it, otherwise it simply couldn't be poetry
Now for the one critical aspect I have of it ( besides the format which I ready mentioned). Through most of the poem you don't rhyme, but in the middle, you suddenly go on a short little rhyming spree that doesn't fit. Rhyming only once or twice in a poem can sometimes be pulled off quite well, but when you suddenly rhyme the same word three or four times, it can throw everything off balance.
Other then this small detail, I loved this poem and encourage you to keep writing!!!!!!!!!!
Other than the format issue, this is a delight to read =3
Very down to earth, and relates to a very prominent, basic question a lot of people ask.
It was great, simply great, and written from the heart! As all the great works are.
& Behind every pretty face is a silent story
lingering, waiting to be told before times grow old;
Hidden in the crest of her soul is a girl
waiting to be loved but afraid to let it be known.
Lurking around in her everyday thoughts
are her hopes and dreams unseen.
If you look deep into her eyes
you'll find the treasures that were once said to be lies.
Hesitant are the words spoken from her lips
when she feels your delicate touch.
Uncertain are her thoughts
when she hears your voice.
Determined is her heart
that she'll be brought to you.
Nervously she attempts to explain
the feelings she keeps hidden behind her silent story.
Afraid of the opinion that may be spoken
she holds back the emotions, that even through your devotion
the pain may still be awoken.
Wrapped yet again in the depths of her mind,
she waits patiently
until she feels your presence
bringing her the love that was once a memory of happiness.
Now I broke It down like that to read it with a sort of flow, IF I'm waaaay out of the ballpark here, feel free to tell me that I'm wrong.
The grammar is nice, the form is pleasant, though the format is none.
All in all An A for Ambitious! and an E for Excellent work.
Keep Writing, ~LosC
Welcome to YWS!!!
Now, for your work. I like it!
This is quite philosophical but at the same time easy to relate to. It's honest, and I like the point of view that you used. It wasn't first person, and that makes it more touching to the reader.
However, there are a couple of things that I would like to point out. First of all, the beginning. the '&' is a little bit distracting. If it's meant to be a part of the poem, then it should be written as 'And'. Heck, maybe the beginning doesn't really need it!
Also, I'm having a little trouble figuring out what format this is. Is it just kinda like an essay? Or a poem, just without the breaks and stanzas? You don't have to change it, I was just curious.
"If you look deep into her eyes you'll find the treasures that were once said to be lies."
I don't quite understand this line. Maybe you could simplify it for the less romantically gifted minds such as mine d:? If not, that's okay. It has a very nice sound to it, though.
" ...she holds back the emotions, that even through your devotion..."
Maybe if you said "feeling" instead of "emotions"?
Well, that's about it! Over all, I thought that this was fantastic! The writing was great. Keep up the good work!!!
PEACE!
Nice job! It's no biggie that you didn't add the stanzas or line breaks...so I don't feel the same as Skorlir (ha) but that was a good poem!
(Hope to see more soon!)
It sounded like you put a lotta work into it, and it was an enjoyable read!
I'm afraid I will not review this until you add stanzas or line breaks. I believe many others will feel the same. Please do that.
Thank you,
~Skorlir
