What does the bird say?

When nest is gone and brush is burned
When trees have fallen down
What does the crow, the dove, or the jay
Say when they roost all alone?

When house is built and people come
To live where the birds reside
They bring their dogs and cats and rats
To tear down new nests in the spring

What does the heron or lonely owl
See at night when all are in bed?
Lights and fuel and speeding cars
Where the streams of frogs and fish used to be

Humans must live no matter the cost
Despite the birds and the trees
They take what they want and forget what was lost
From sky, wind and sea

Long will crow and dove and jay
Wait for their home to return
When green will grow and smoke fade away
Never more to be burned

Hey there! MapleWay here dropping by with a quick review!

Before I ramble on about how much I loved this poem I want to thank you for helping me get my third review star! Means a lot! Anyways on to the review!

This was spectacular. I really enjoyed how you described how much we have taken from all of these incredible creatures just to make out life easier. The last stanza was my favorite. The way you described a world where green will grow and smoke fade away was breathtaking. I wouldn't change a thing! Also, could you tag me next time you post another amazing poem?

Hello Boo
It’s Berry!
Heya, here for a review real quick!

A few things to say real quick before I review. This was an amazing poem! I hate how this is somewhat true as to what we are doing to the environment… But hopefully, the animals do one day heal from the pain we have brought onto them. Okay, review time! I love how this was from a birds sorta pov and how we get to see how they feel and think about their homes being lost to the ‘humans’ that are coming and invading their home. I thought it was a interesting thought to use the animals pov as most poems are peoples pov..

one word... excellent. (ok, many words...) , magnificent, stupendous, astounding (need I go on?) This has given me a lot of food for thought my friend. As a fellow writer, I must say.. I am challenged. this was well presented and well put together. your perception of nature has left me breathless (i hadn't realised i was holding my breath) and i read this little piece of perfection in one gulp. love, love and freakin' loved it!! have mercy on us all and continue to bless us with your writing gift( that you clearly have!) Bravissimo

If it wasn't for poetry, I couldn't express myself.
