Episode Two

The crew had just sat down at their desks in the CID office and started to work as Sergeant Sheila Nolan and Inspector Andrew Hunter from the uniform division entered. They went straight to see DI Medside who was sat in his office typing up a report. “Hi Jack. We might have a case for your team. A woman has been pulled over by Sergeant Nolan here, but she has 250 kilograms of cocaine in a suitcase which is in the back of her car,” explained Inspector Hunter. “Okay. Thanks for reporting it to me. I will get Mickey to stand-in on the interview with your sergeant if that is okay,” replied Jack. “That’s fine,” replied Hunter as he exited the office. Sergeant Nolan stayed however. “Okay, do me a favour and shout it Mickey would you please She,” said Medside referring to Sheila. “Sure,” she replied as she exited the office. Twenty seconds later she came back in, alongside Mickey. “Okay. Fill us in,” said Medside looking at Sheila. “Alright this morning I was called to an RTC on Broadbent Lane and we spoke to a witness who was unwilling to help. He raced off from the seen without giving us a name, statement or anything. PC Valentine pulled him over a few minutes a go and our suspect is in the cell now, ready to be interviewed.” Medside then looked at Mickey and Nolan, “Okay you two of you go,” he commanded. The officers then went to custody and picked up the suspect and brought him to the interview room.

Kyle Wainwright was the suspect who had been brought in to the cells. Mickey and Nolan started to interview the suspect about the drugs that was in his car. “Alright, can you explain the cocaine that was found in your car?” asked Mickey. “Yes,” replied the suspect. “It is for my personal use, so you can’t keep me in this shit hole!” Mickey then got mad and stood up. “Actually son, we can for possession of a Class A drug so tell us where you got it from or your life won’t be worth living,” he said. “Okay,” replied Kyle. “Well I’m telling you jack shit so you’re going to have to wait a while. Aren’t you?” Kyle sounded sarcastic and arrogant. But Mickey and Sheila didn’t approve to such people. Sheila stood up. “How long do you wish to spend in jail?” she asked. “Minimum?” asked Mickey. But before he answered Mickey said, “Well help us then! All we want to know is who gave you the supply, and then we will help you out of a long stretch of a prison sentence and we will be able to put him behind bars.” Kyle made it clear that he was still not going to say anything regarding how he came in possession of the drug. So with nothing to go on, Mickey and Sheila went to see Jack.

Jack had just finished writing his report when Mickey and Sheila came in. “He’s saying jack all,” said Sheila as they walked in to his office. “And we don’t think he will say anything in the future, unless we have something to convince him with,” replied Mickey. Jack then told them that between all three of them, they would need to come up with an idea to persuade the criminal to give information. “I have in idea,” said Jack as he had a sudden idea. “I will get this blank piece of paper here, put it in a brown envelope and say to Wainwright that it is his record, and that I would rip it up if he gave me the information,” he said waving a blank piece of A4 paper about. “And then he will be convinced, with hope, so we let him feed us the information, and eventually I come back to you guys, rip up the piece of paper on my way, and we act on the info in which he has given us. Understood?” Mickey and Sheila were impressed with what Jack was planning. They nodded their heads in agreement to their understanding. Sheila and Mickey then went to the CID duty room while Jack went to Wainwright’s cell.

Wainwright was asleep in his cell before being wakened up by the appearance of the strict DI’s entrance. “Right son, I’m not in the mood for any BS so let’s just get straight to the point, shall we?” asked Medside while he stared at Wainwright in an ‘I will kill you’ mood. “Right, here I have a piece of paper. It is your crime details to this particular crime. I will rip that up, if you feed me information as to who sold you the drugs,” Medside said, still in a mood. “And pigs might fly,” replied Wainwright. “Why would you do that?” Medside then opened the envelope with the piece of paper inside it. “Because I am a bent cop and because I don’t want you to go down. You see you’re as much use to me as a one-legged man in an arse kicking contest. I don’t need you. The only thing I can get you done for is possession, and to me that is a load of crap. I prefer further up the food chain.” Wainwright stood from his bed and noticed the police force’s logo on the top of the sheet. It read ‘West Yorkshire Police’. “Alright, okay I will be straight with you. The person who gave me the drugs is called Warren Horncastle; he works under a possessor called Lisa Monroe,” said Wainwright, as he began to come clean. “Monroe runs a bar on the Ole Duke Road. That’s where I was travelling from when I stopped at the road accident,” he replied. “Right,” replied Medside giving him the envelope. Wainwright opened the envelope, as Medside closed it again while Wainwright was giving his statement. He noticed just a police logo. “Oh come on!” shouted Wainwright. Medside then exited the cell, snatching the paper off him on his exit. He then went away smiling.

Medside now fed this information to Mickey and Sheila but was distracted by Rachel’s desk. Rachel was unusually not there. “Where’s Rachel?” he asked. Mickey gave the answer. “She has started her maternity leave according to the DCI sir,” he replied. Medside then continued feeding the information that Wainwright gave him. “So, what do we do now?” asked Sheila. “Well I am going to get a few people to go down to the bar on the Ole Duke Road and do a bit of surveillance there. Meanwhile us lot bring in Warren Horncastle for dealing,” replied Medside. “Alright guv, well before we set off I will ask the DCI to arrange a team to keep an eye on the bar while we get Horncastle,” replied Mickey. “Okay and us three meet in the yard in ten minutes, yeah?” he asked. Mickey and Sheila agreed.

The officers had got the Horncastle’s address and were in the yard preparing an arrest. Mickey, Sheila and Jack were just about to make the arrest and set off out of the yard, with PC John Michael who was a uniform police officer with all of his equipment needed in the arrest. Arriving at the house, they noticed Horncastle was not there, or was definitely not answering his door. So the officers got an enforcer and decided to break down the door. “Police,” John ordered as they entered the house “Stay where you are.” They then saw Horncastle running down the stairs and Medside threw him to one side of the corridor and said, “You’re nicked sunshine.” John then slammed the cuffs on him. They then brought him in the station.

The officers then took Horncastle to the custody desk and Sheila, being a sergeant, booked him in to the cell. Asking for his name, crime, DOB and address while doing so. He told the officers the correct information and they believed him. Medside and Mickey then interviewed him. “Right, someone has grassed you up Horncastle. Start telling us the truth. Do you supply drugs to people?” asked Medside. “No comment,” replied Horncastle. His solicitor who had just arrived then interrupted telling Horncastle to tell them everything he knows. “Alright, yes I do deal to people, but as for my supplier, you do not know that one,” Horncastle said. “Right,” replied Medside. “Well are you going to tell us?” Horncastle refused this offer to tell them who his dealer was. In fact he got pretty annoyed at the fact. “I have already admitted to passing it on. You pigs aren’t getting anything else off me!” he shouted. His solicitor wasn’t going to give him any more advice either so Jack and Mickey had to act on who Wainwright said it was. The officers, realising they weren’t going to get anywhere with Horncastle returned to CID.

Meanwhile, the officers from the Ole Duke Road club had brought in suspects, including the owner of the club who posses it all, Lisa Monroe. Medside thought she looked a right slag, she had dozens of make up on, she was blonde and she was wearing black heels and a mini-skirt, along with a purple low-cut top. “Alright then, let’s interview the tom first,” commanded Medside. So Mickey (who obviously fancied her,) Sheila and Medside brought her in to the interview room. “Right then,” said Medside when the interview had commenced. “Do you supply drugs in your club?” he asked. “No comment,” she replied. “Okay then, do you sell drugs to people other than alcohol?” she replied the same as before, “No comment.” Mickey then had a crack at her. “Right darling, you better start telling us the truth. Do you know a man called Mr. Horncastle or a man called Mr. Wainwright?” he asked showing anger tone in his voice. “No comment,” she replied. “Alright, I know Wainwright, I’ve been shagging him a bit,” she said. It seemed that Mickey’s instinct was correct. “Okay, do you do drugs?” Medside asked. “No comment,” she replied. Mickey then stood up and slammed the desk. “We’re not going to get anything out of this arrogant bastard guv, maybe we should just leave her to rot in her prison cell,” he said. “Very nice Detective, you take no shit, but you see you need something beginning with ‘e’ and ending with ‘e’, it’s called evidence,” Lisa said in a sarcastic but happy mood. However, these atmospheres were soon put to and end when Medside stood from his seat and said, “Don’t worry miss. We have had officers watching you all day, undercover. In and covering your bar. We will have evidence alright,” Medside said. Lisa then sniggered. The interview then was put to an end.

Medside was right, evidence had been brought it. Many photographs were taken in and outside the club of suspects dealing drugs, and also Lisa selling the drugs to people, for a huge amount of cash. Mickey, alone this time, went to see Lisa and he told her that she would be arrested for some time and that all the evidence had piled up against her. She feared and eventually, months after the arrest, in court, admitted to her offences and she also supplied the police officers and barristers with a list of people who she had sold drugs to, and the receipts to prove this.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),

Hi! I'm Knight Hardy here on a mission to ensure that all works on YWS has at least two reviews. You will probably never see this but....Imma do this anyway.

First Impression: So this one seems like a pretty realistic take on a government police agency style story. The characters behave pretty realistically and honestly besides the 250 kilograms of cocaine everything else is quite plausible. There is one major issue with the formatting but more on that down below.

Anyway let's get right to it,

The crew had just sat down at their desks in the CID office and started to work as Sergeant Sheila Nolan and Inspector Andrew Hunter from the uniform division entered. They went straight to see DI Medside who was sat in his office typing up a report. “Hi Jack. We might have a case for your team.

Okay a giant paragraph chunk...not ideal for the start of something. You might wanna break that up a little but as far as getting your attention and being interesting goes this did its job. Those line of dialogue need to be in their own paragraphs 'cause you need to start a new paragraph everytime someone new speaks.

And also...250kg...that's a ridiculous amount for one person to be in possession of...it seems very unrealistic judging from the sheer cost of that to how do you store so many things especially considering it would have to be something that you hide in a suitcase. I doubt that there is a suitcase out there that is big enough to carry so much weight much less the volume of all of that.

Again you need to be splitting this up into paragraphs. Now this seems like a pretty decently accurate criminal in such a situation but those little bits of narration describing what he did feels very unnecessary. You're already showing us everything that its telling and I really don't see the point for that and those bits of narration also stand out a little and sound a bit odd.

Again you don't need to state what is going to happen and then go onto describe that in action. You just need one of the two...preferably the action. The discussion seemed not like a discussion at all, it was just like one guy giving an order almost but...the plan itself is actually pretty good.

Wainwright opened the envelope, as Medside closed it again while Wainwright was giving his statement. He noticed just a police logo. “Oh come on!” shouted Wainwright. Medside then exited the cell, snatching the paper off him on his exit. He then went away smiling.

Well that one went about as well as I expected it to go...that's a pretty good depiction of some pretty good work on the part of the detective.

The yard seems like a bit of a lame name in the middle of this cool story but then that's just a big ol' nitpick. Other than that it sounds like pretty realistic orders.

Kind of a rushed scene for what promised to be a pretty cool action scene. I would have expected a little more detail than this because this seems to get the pacing going much too fast. And of course a wonderful one liner...wouldn't be complete without that now would it?

We will have evidence alright,” Medside said. Lisa then sniggered. The interview then was put to an end.

Okay...that was more of the bad formatting with respect to dialogue but another pretty realistic take on how this kind of conversation might go down.

Um okay...that was a big ol' time skip but its a pretty good ending that you've got right there.

Aaaaand that's it for this one.

Overall: Overall this is a pretty cool little story and it sounds like a wonderful idea. I might actually try to find out Episode one of this and read any more that are out there because his seems great. If you fix that little thing with the dialogue and divide paragraphs more it'd be perfect.

As always remember to take what you think was helpful and forget the rest.
