A woman stepped into the enclosure. It was the dead of night and she was carrying a cage.
She closed the door behind her and looked up at the glass dome above, showing the night sky as clearly as if there wasn’t glass there at all.
She knelt down and opened the cage. Five squirrels immediately ran out, scattering into the forest-like enclosure. She quickly went back out and came back with two more.
One had three birds who flew off into the branches above, and the other had two raccoons.
The woman felt as if it was a bit too much prey for one wolf, but she shrugged it off.
Right as she was about to open the raccoon’s cage, a shadow flew over her. Her head immediately snapped up and she ran out, leaving the cages inside. It was her first day on the job, she already didn’t get paid enough to get chased by a wolf.
The white wolf above landed and folded back his gray-blue wings. He shook out his fur and blinked.
She must have released some prey. He thought, eyeing the cages and taking in the scents of the prey. Seems as if there’s a raccoon or two in that one still. The wolf thought for a moment. If there were two raccoons, he should let them go, at least for now. If they start to become a problem, I’ll kill them.
The wolf went up to the raccoon cage and looked inside. The two raccoons were cowering at the far end of it. He studied the lock for a moment before pawing at it. “Hm,” he took the lock in his teeth and pulled it to the left. It slid open and the two raccoons began to shake even more.
The wolf rolled his eyes then turned, threw open his wings, and flew away.
A makeshift tree house sat in the branches of the largest tree in the enclosure. Below it was a large pile of leaves in case it collapsed.
The wolf landed on a balcony jutting out of the tree house and padded inside.
He immediately flopped down on the pile of soft, fluffy raccoon skin that he slept on.
He lifted his head and glanced around the small room.
A small window was right across from his bed(almost half a wing-length from him) Underneath it sat a small pile of prey bones. A half-eaten bird lay next to it, just in paw's reach.
The wolf grabbed it with his paws and began to finish eating it.
I wonder what life's like for real wolves. He thought, I wonder what I would have been like if I were a real wolf. I- I wonder what my name would’ve been and if I could even imagine what living like this would feel like.
He stood up and took a step forward to look out the window, brushing the now picked clean prey bones to the side with his tail, I wish I even had a name.

Hello! This is a random weirdo here to review.
Sorry it took me so long to read this. I didn't realize know chapter one had come out until recently. The prologue was amazing, and I just had to read more.
This is quite intriguing, and perfectly continues what you set up in prologue. You switch the points of view smoothly, and it's very well-paced.
However, I was a bit confused at one part:
I didn't know at first what you were referring to when she came out with "two more". Two more what? Squirrels? I eventually realized you meant cages, but I didn't catch on to that until I reread it a few times.
I feel sorry for the wolf. Never knowing what a proper home was, or a family for that matter must be difficult. You make his emotions very clear to the reader, and we can't help but feel sorry for him. You set up the scene beautifully as well, and it leads into an amazing beginning.
I wonder if the woman will ever have a bigger role? Might she be taken advantage of because of her inexperience? Or maybe this is the only time we'll see her. I also want to know if we'll see any other people we saw in the prologue again, and what roles they'll have in the story.
I loved reading this, and I can't wait for more to come out!
Keep writing!
Hi! Mercedes Blue here to read and review!

First of all, I love the mystery you very quickly bring into the story in the second sentence. Already I'm wondering why the woman is bringing out animals in cages. I like how you mentioned what animals and how much there is in each one and how even the woman thought it would be too much for the wolf possibly.
Also, I LOVE how there is a wolf with wings. I'm a sucker for wolves with wings. And this is perfect! I like how you share the fear the woman had when she felt the shadow pass her which belonged to the wolf. When I read the title I didn't think there would at all be a wolf let alone one with wings!
At first, I was thinking that maybe she was in a zoo feeding the animals but now I'm wondering if she's somewhere else. like maybe a secret place like a government lab or something. This is so interesting!
I wonder too if maybe the makeshift treehouse will collapse and the wolf will get hurt and something will happen....
I love how the wolf's thoughts are included. I'm curious to see more of how he thinks.
I do like how this chapter is short however in my personal opinion I do think that maybe everything is just a little too face-paced being as short as this chapter is.
I wish there was a little more description of the wolf also. For example, what color his eyes are, if he has any areas on his fur that are different colors or like fur patterns, and how big he is(like if he's a pup, teenage wolf, or adult). Other than that criticism (Of which by no means do you have to take or even give a thought to), I liked this chapter and I hope to be reading more!
Thank you for sharing your book for others to read! I for one am already very much enjoying it!
Have a wonderful day\night!
-Mercedes Blue
Hey, this is Foxmaster!!! I am back, so yeah!
Well, this must be about the wolf who, as a great surprise to me, WAS NOT TORTURED TO DEATH. YAY! *throws confetti* 🎉🎊🥳 Sorry, I am a sucker for emojis. Just saying.
Well, let us begin this review!!!
wait, so the wolf isn't free? Wow, I hate people. Well, I don't mind this lady because she's setting them free-
The woman felt as if it was a bit too much prey for one wolf, but she shrugged it off.
Never mind, because the animals are going to DIE.
Uhm.... Welp, this is sad, the wolf doesn't even have a name. I'm just gonna call him Nameless until he gets a name.
ESCAPE THIS PLACE, NAMELESS!
yup. he should totally escape. Wonder where this is going. I hope he escapes. He definitely should, though.
That's all! This is getting interesting!
-Foxmaster!!! 🦊🦊🦊!!!
Haha, he will escape eventually. He also will get a name in like, the next chapter. I can%u2019t just call him %u201Cthe wolf%u201D forever.
Thanks
