Lupus Smokeborn
The Wrong Kingdom
8/16/508
Lupus paused outside black stone doors. He could hear someone speaking. He pressed his ear against the door.
“King Siraj is dead,” a woman with a aristocratic accent said. “What now Your Majesty?”
“Find Princess Aisha,” the king growled.
Aisha again? Lupus wondered. My father really is worried about her. But why? She’s just a princess.
“Your Majesty,” the woman said. “She’s certainly dead. We have no reason to-”
“War Chief Agave, I am your king and you will find her. She is the last of the House of Fai and we need her found and killed.”
House of Fai? The prince wondered.
Lord Skygge hissed. “She’s a threat to Eboncrest. And a threat to Lupus.”
Lupus blinked in utter confusion.
“Your Majesty,” War Chief Agave sounded slightly fearful. “It’s not worth it. We need to hold our ground in the desert. The Warriors are coming towards us and we need to be prepared for them.”
“The Warriors are the least of our concerns,” Lord Skygge said. “Despite their magical element controlling abilities. The princess is our greatest concern.”
War Chief Agave hesitated. “Your Majesty?”
“You know what to do, Agave. Do it,” the king commanded.
Lupus heard footsteps coming towards the door and he immediately ran. He ran until he reached the end of the corridor and he turned the corner.
Who is this girl? He wondered. My father is obviously worried about what she could do. It isn’t like my father to be so rattled by something. The House of Fai. Where is that from? I’ve heard it before but I don’t know where. It’s there but I can’t quite remember it. What is going on?
