*Microphone screech*

Whoops.

*AJ taps the mic*

You can hear me?

Alright let’s get into this.

AI, AI, AI. It’s all you see in the news these days. “Rogue AI”, “Student Uses AI To Undress Peers”, “AI Is Destroying Humanity”

Many of you would say, AJ, I think the last one is being a little dramatic.

But is it?

Creativity is something we all possess. If you’re reading this you’re almost certainly a writer or an artist. You’re on YWS, so I’d assume so.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever seen an AI generated image. We’ve all seen them. Now, what if that person had gotten a real human to draw their character? (Shoutout to LadyMysterio!) A real human to make that funny social media post?

We’re losing our creativity to AI. Many of us don’t even think for ourselves anymore. You don’t know what to wear today? Snap a few photos of your clothes and plug them into AI. It’ll tell you what to wear! Simple as that.

But what happens if you can’t access AI?

You don’t know what to wear. You can’t figure it out. You become addicted to this bot. It strips your ability to think for yourself and you feel lost without it.

People who write reviews with AI. Look, we’ve seen them. We know when you do. It’s really obvious. But once you can’t do that anymore, your ability to review vanishes. You can’t do it yourself because it’s so hard.

AI is destroying creativity and humanity along with it. Creativity is something that humanity is known for. Our beautiful murals, our books, our ideas.

Humans are getting dumber because of this too.

The Flynn Effect is where human IQ scores increase by about 3 points every decade. But now there seems to be a flattening or reversal of this effect.

Coincidence? I think not.

Also, if this doesn’t convince you. It’s literally destroying the planet. It’s sapping our water resources, which are already dwindling due to global warming.

If that’s not enough I don’t know what is.

Now, I’m not saying that I’ve never used AI. I have before, back before the impact of it was widely known. I rarely use it now, but when I do it’s to prove a point.

Let me show you now. Let’s plug one of my drawings into Canva AI and have it improve upon the drawing.

*AJ pulls up slides*

Prompt: Improve upon this drawing.

Original:

AI:

AI over sexualizes women in their images. Look how it slimmed her legs and waist. Her breasts are bigger too. Also, just look at what it did to her hair. I don’t even know why it thought that was a good idea. Now, I’ll admit her face looks a bit better, but to be fair. Her face was tiny when I was drawing it. Those little things that I messed up on are what make it human.

Honestly, which one would you rather you saw?

Back to oversexualization. It’s not just the women, it’s also the men. But, it impacts people’s mental health when all they see are these perfect people. No one’s perfect. No one looks like that. It’s very unrealistic and unhealthy to try to look like that.

All in all, just don’t use AI. Get a human to do that drawing for you or ask for help with your reviewing.

I’m happy to help you and I know many people on here would be too.

AJ out! *drops mic*

'Hush, hush!' I whispered; 'people can have many cousins and of all sorts, Miss Cathy, without being any the worse for it; only they needn't keep their company, if they be disagreeable and bad.
