Chapter 1: The beginning

She shot up from her slumber. Her eyes red rimmed with tears. Why she was crying, she didn't know, for she barely remembered her dream. All that remained from the night's dream was The Kiss. Heart-stopping, weakening the knees kiss, yet she did not know who it was from nor, did she remember his face.

It was a reoccurring dream, happening every night since she found out what she was. She was a vampire, not your normal one even, if there is such a thing, but one that didn't have to drink blood to survive.

She was a rare type, not just in the fact that she had no need to drink blood, but due to that fact the was born in a lab. She's one of a kind, that is, if you don't count her twin brother. He was her double, her clone. They had been born humans, like most vampires, but were taken from their family just days after their birth. The 'people' who abducted them were vampire scientists trying to find a way to create new vampires, ones who were immune to the werewolf smell. The scientists wanted to start with a newborn, to try and make the vampire age with years but stop when they reached the peek of their life, 25. Though it seems impossible, they succeed, in someways and not others. They were able to ensure that everything would be possible, except the aging, they had a slight complication there. The vampire babies would stop growing not at age 25 but at age 16. Only two of their creations managed to live. Sie 1-007 and Er 1-007. But most people know them better as Areil and Adam Andersom. Twins, Vampire Twins.

Her brother shot up in his bed, next to hers.

"Areil, What's wrong?" he said rubbing his hand against his eye. Having just woken up he was barely awake, but just alert to realize something was wrong with his sister.

"Nothing! Adam go back to sleep," she snapped at him. She wasn't a very pleasant person to wake up to first thing in the morning.

"So, That means you're still upset about what we are?" he said smirking.

"Well Duh, aren't you?" she said as her eyes began to fill with tears. Her life was so different from how it was just five weeks prior, before she had known what she was.

"Actually," Adam began, his eyes looking around the room, when they finally settled on a box in the corner. He swung his legs to the side of his bed and stood up. Maneuvering around the room as though it was a brilliant sunny day instead of the darkness of the morning, Adam found his way to the box that he had been eying up before. Areil was intrigued, her brother never hid anything from her, so she thought that whatever was in the box must have been big. Big enough for her brother to think it best to hid it from her. Besides being intrigued she was scared, though she had no reason to be. She was afraid that whatever was in the box would tear her whole family apart. She had no idea how right she was. "I've known about what we are for years, since we were seven." Out of the box, he pulled a piece of parchment that looked to Areil to be of about 15 years old.

She snatched the paper from her brother and began to read it aloud:

Adam and Areil,

I hope for the dear Lord's sake that you do not receive this letter before you reach the age of 16 but if you do you must be warmed. You were conceived by a women, who was just sixteen, who did not desire her children, the two of you. We, the vampire scientists and many have taken to calling us, while we call ourselves the Investors for reasons that shall remain unnamed for now. What we did not know, and did not detect until it was to late, that your biological mother had vampire DNA already present in her body. We are not sure how it was manifest but my own thought it that her family is destined from a long line of vampires, but for 4 or 5 generations the women(and men) have chosen to have human spouses.

I then thought how could the mother survive, or even the father if the mother was the vampire. Then I discovered a gene that after hundreds of tests, i found was only in human with relations to the two of you.

The humans had a gene that allowed human DNA to mix with the vampire DNA, making the vampire "Human-like" for only a few hour.

I have now come to the conclusion that the humans had no knowledge of the gene that they possessed, neither did the vampires. I have also realized that that gene is somehow the only was the two of you survive the treatments, otherwise, you would have died along with the hundreds of others.

You may be wondering "Who is this lady?"

Hopefully you will never have to meet me but if by chance you do. You must know that I am the one who rescued you, who took you out of the horrid place. I also must warn you that if you ever come close to the facility that you were created, you will be captured and destroyed or worse, you will be lab rats for the scientists and I have learned that there is nothing worse than that.

Yours in Love,

A.W. Hannigan

Areil looked up at her brother from the spot she lay on her bed,"Why didn't you tell me about this before?" she said with fire in her eyes.

Her brother looked down at the black carpeted floor,"Would you ever have believed me?" he asked softly, an undertone of anger brushing his voice.

"Of course I would have, Adam, You're my brother, you have never lied to me, and you always told me everything, at least until this," She said, her voice pained. What else was he hiding from me?

"Maybe now you would have but back when we were seven? You truly would have believed me then?" Adam asked, his voice rising. "Five weeks ago if it had been me telling you that we were vampires instead of mom, would you have believed me? You barely believe mom and had she ever lied to you about anything?" By now Adam was yelling, and Areil had tears streaming down her flushed cheeks.

"NO, I would have believed you than Adam! Would you have believed me? Would you be angry if I was showing you this freaking' letter that I had had for nine years Adam, NINE years!" Areil shouted at Adam, both of whom had flushed cheeks and tears in their eyes.

"What is going on in here?" Adam and Areil's adoptive mother shouted as she rushed in the room. Turning on the lights, she saw what was going on. Her children were fighting.

Mrs. Peggy Andersom was a portly women with beautiful red hair. Though she was tough on her children she loved them, and wanted to best for them. She especially hated to see them in an argument, which so rarely happened.

"Adam, Areil, what's going on?" she asked, this time is a softer tone.

"Nothing mom, go back to bed," Adam said his voice breaking. "This is between Areil and I."

"I'm not going back to bed until," she stifled a yawn," I know what is going on between the two of you."

"Mom, you really want to know what's going on between the two of us? We're fighting, like normal siblings, okay? So just go back to bed and leave us alone." Areil whispered harshly.

"That's no way to talk to your mother young lady!" Peggy yelled.

"Well ground me in the morning for all I care! You're not my mom!" Areil angrily shouted as she pushed past her brother and mother, out of the room and into the dark night.

I think you came on strong, but a little too strong. You explained the main conflict in the first few paragraphs of the story. I know that you must be eager to get your thoughts out, I know I am, but your story moved a little too fast for me. You spent the first scene explaining what they are- you might want to cut that bit out because it would be a lot more engrossing if you started out from the middle of the action, then weaving those facts in as the story progresses.

Hope this helps!

Okay...the only thing that i can say is great job! Again, you have me under your spell. You did have a few typos though. A question is what I have and a question is what I shall ask...how did Areil rush past her foster mother and her twin brother in to the darkness when she was in her room. She didn't even open any door. That is my only question. Also, I am in a little agreement with Ray because the vampire thing was creative but the sentences did not mesh well together. Okay! Keep working though! Hurry it up with chapter two! :D I am dying!

These sentences didn't quite flow well and you didn't transition the topics very well. First you're talking about how she's immune to blood and how rare she is and then you start talking about being immune to the werewolf smell. What does that have to do with anything?
Well I'll be back. Gotta go,

Thank you
I understand what you mean
And I'm most likely going to get into more of what it means in later chapters
but you're right,
I should have explained more about it in this chapter
Thank you again
XD

Hey again!

Okay, to be honest, I think the introduction to this chapter can be improved. I didn't read the whole thing, because I'm a little pressed for time but here it goes. She's just woken up from a dream that was both confusing and adrenaline-inducing. Maybe she's breathing heavily or maybe she's scared. I don't know just make her emotions more prominent. Your prologue was fantastic and you don't want the story to fizzle just because of the way you started chapter one. Also, I like how you're being unique with the whole vampire thing. But maybe there needs to be more information if you're going to explain like this.

She was a rare type, not just in the fact that she had no need to drink blood, but due to that fact the was born in a lab. She's one of a kind, that is, if you don't count her twin brother.
