He.

He fits in.

He laughs.

He cries.

He feels all the emotions in between.

He studies.

He works hard.

He has goals.

He achieves them.

He is normal.

She.

She fits in.

She loves.

She hates.

She feels all emotions in between.

She dreams.

She achieves.

She falls in love.

She has her heart broken.

She is normal.

But me?

I’m not normal.

I don’t fit in.

I am only broken.

I can never be fixed.

I am a puzzle,

Missing half its pieces.

I am half a heart,

I’m not fully complete.

I feel overwhelming pain.

I suffer.

I am permanently sorrowful.

I am trapped in this body that’s supposed to be mine.

That is not normal.

I am not normal.

Hey Alex, first of all while reading this I thought you would be quite fun to collab with. I like your structure here, and the points are like a bullet style in poetic form listing "him" first. The ending is concluded with characteristics of what you define as yourself following the listings of him and her. This gives strength to the definition of what you think you are, but I cannot help but say that I think you are mistaken. You may feel incomplete and like your heart is empty, but we must love ourselves first for others to love us. You may have not found your person yet, but the future isn't here yet. Stay positive, stay bright and definitely keep writing because the only thing I really have to pinpoint is maybe evening up the line length of "she feels all emotions in between" and "being trapped in a body that's supposed to be mine". Other than that, this is truly fantastic. I admire your strength and courage to share your work and also ask for advice. We are all fellow writers just helping each other out. I may not catch something in my work someone else will, so it does come in handy. I really hope to read more from you in the near future and hope this has given you some encouragement, not just for this poem but for your emotions and esteem as well. I'll quit rambling now. Live free, stay bright and keep painting the world with your words. It makes this place a little better.

Dear youraveragewriter,
Thank you for your kind words and feedback. I really appreciate it when people read my work, and it causes me so much joy when I open my device and see that someone has commented on my work. I am in the process of trying to upload some of my other poems to the YWS website, so I will make revisions to this poem at a later date. If you are interested in a collaboration, I'm all ears.

Thank you for reading/giving feedback on my poem,
AlexTheEmoEmu

That would be awesome. Sounds like fun.

what type of poem would you like to collaborate on? I personally prefer free verse, but I'm open to anything.

I've done rhyme way longer than free verse, but I need some practice there so that's fine with me. You can hop over to my writers feed pad if you want and we can write there or shoot me a message when you're ready.

Dear youraveragewriter,
I apologize for not responding sooner. My school had been doing state testing for the past couple of weeks, so I needed to focus all my attention on that. I'm ready to collaborate when you are.

Oh no worries. It's been really busy around here as well. I have a viewing tonight and a funeral tomorrow and then should be free.

My deepest condolences. I will attempt to respond to any message you send with appropriate timing, though I might be a bit behind due to my school schedule.

Oh you're good. I totally understand.

Thanks for understanding.

Of course. I definitely know how busy life can get .

Hey Alex! Valkyria here to leave a short review on your work. Let's get into it:

You're giving yourself way too little credit. This poem is amazing, and I really enjoyed reading it.

I like the format. It's split up into three sections: the boy, the girl, and the narrator. Each stanza is short and concise, but it tells us so much about how the narrator views themself compared to other people. And it's open-ended, so readers can interpret this in any way they like.

The first two sections are equal in length and repetition, but the narrator's section is longer and not as uniform, further describing how removed they feel from normalcy.

I would like to see this line "[He/She] feels all the emotions in between" put somewhere in the narrator's section. Since it's the only line that is specifically repeated in the first two sections, I feel like that was intentionally put there, so the line should also be in the narrator's section. The rule of three, you know?

Overall, great poem! You have so much room to grow as a poet. Well done!

Dear Valkyria,
Thank you for your feedback! I am currently working on uploading another one of my poems to the YWS website, so I will make adjustments to this poem when I have the time.
Thank you for reading/giving feedback on my poem,

Hey there, AlexTheEmoEmu!!

This is Eros here with a review for this deep poem of yours.

First of all the title of the poem is short, sweet, catchy and apt and appropriate as well. This is the first thing that we look at in any piece of work.

I noticed the poem has a smooth flow too. I really loved that.
Now this poem seems to have a lot of open ends which was maybe possibly intentional... for the reader to either figure out or simply that you as a writer did not want to cast much light on.
Like initially it begins with describing gender. He. A male human being. He fits in. The first thing talked about "him" is that he fits in. The social standards can be at times too harsh and unnecessary and even harmful though, but still "fit in" is something that is bothering the writer. Then next he laughs, he cries, he feels all the emotions in between. Maybe that's stability that is referred to here. The neutral state where you are neither extremely happy nor extremely sad you are neutral and positively good and are fine.

Then he has goals and he achieves them. Maybe the writer either lacks any goals in life, given up, hopeless feeling, or even if they get it once in a while they are not able to achieve them due to struggles keeping up with getting rid of the depressive episodes...

Next is a girl. She loves, she is heartbroken too but that doesn't affect her day to day life.

Next thing the writer talks abt themselves. Maybe the protagonist of the poem (writer themself) has a confused gender identity and hence the poem mentions He and She. And then the writer has a constant sadness. They can not feel other emotions like happy and neutral. And they feel incomplete.
"Trapped in this body that's supposed to be mine".

This line again hints that Maybe they don't like the body they are in. Maybe because of gender or maybe because of other insecurities. There's suffering. There's pain.

The poem is written very well. It's very deep and I don't think I will ever get to reach the entire depth ever.

Overall I loved the poem.
Keep writing!!
Have a nice day ahead/ or night!
With love,
Eros.

Dear Eros,
Thank you so much for commenting on my poem! This is actually one of my first ever poems, so it means a lot to me that someone not only read my poem, but understood it and took the time to comment on it. Many of my few poems do talk about my gender and my personal discomfort in my body. (though I'm sure that my profile picture helps with that perspective) I am overjoyed that someone who I don't know irl enjoyed my poem.

Thank you again for reading/reviewing my poem,

AlexTheEmoEmu
