Prologue:
Brilee groaned. Her friends were at it again. The four of them would get into the stupidest of arguments. The saddest thing was that Brilee was always the one settling things. Being the leader of her friends’ small group it made sense, but man it got old.
“Pizza!”
“Burgers!”
“That Chinese place we can’t pronounce!”
Yep, you guessed it. They were fighting over food. This was one of the most pathetic arguments she’d ever seen, and suddenly, as if it were magic, three sets of eyes were on her.
“Brilee!” They all groaned. She laughed at this. At times like this she felt like a mom instead of a friend. She thought about the options that were put before her and staying true to her country girl roots she smiled.
“Burgers.” A moment after the word escaped her mouth she was engulfed in a pair of strong arms.
“Thank you! Thank you, you wonderful person. Thank you!” She laughed. Her best friend Spencer was a complete nut. The two of them had been best friends since they were two. Next to Matthew, her twin, he was the most important person in her life.
She pulled herself out of the brunette’s arms. “Not a problem.” She said, brushing a strand of her fiery red hair out of her eyes. “I’m starved and the Burger Barn is cheap enough.” She pulled her wallet out of her bag to double check her amount of funds. “I won’t have enough for that bag, damn.”
“I’ll cover the rest, Bri.” Spencer offered, “Now onward to the Barn of Burgers!” He pushed her forward leaving Melody and Matthew behind. Chasing their heels to catch up, Melody called after them.
“Hey! Wait for us!” They finally managed to catch them, but Melody’s hair faced a consequence. The perfect braid had fallen down all around her face and her hair fell in waves around her paleface. “Great.” She muttered sarcastically, “Bri do you have you-“Before she could even finish speaking, Brilee had already pulled a small change purse from her bag.
“Black or brown?” She asked while digging though the neon green bag that held various clips, bows, pins, and ties.
“Black.”
The quartet of friends sat around small table in the back of the restaurant, each digging their grubby little paws into the mountain of cheese fries in the center of the table. The gooey cheese would string as you picked up the fry and the bacon gave it a nice crunch in your mouth.
“Brilee, watch it!” Spencer snapped as she had accidentally strung a pool of ranch across their table. Taking a napkin he cleaned up the mess, “I saw those eyes, what were you day dreaming about this time.” When she didn’t answer he turned his head and saw him, “Really Bri?”
Brilee had been staring at the Quarter Back and Captain of the football team, Chance Sutherland. He was tall and his arms were nicely toned in muscle. His hair was a bright blonde and he always had a cheeky grin like he was better than anyone. He also happened to be the guy Brilee had been crushing on since the 7th grade.
“Yes, really!” Brilee said, shoving another fry into her mouth. “He’s so cute! And a football player!” She paused, “Captain and Quarter Back!”
“Yeah, your point?” Spencer asked. “He’s a jerk.”
“No.” She stated, “You just don’t know him.” Spencer dropped the subject not wanting to fight with her. He began to nibble on his deluxe burger, hiding a sigh. “Something wrong, Hun?”
He jumped slightly, “No nothing.”Giving a convincing smile he tossed a fry at her, “Now eat.” Turning his attention back to his burger he sighed. What’s the point? He thought to himself. He looked up at Brilee and gave a soft smile, “Now how much do you need for that bag?”
“Fifteen.” She shrugged and noticed him digging into his wallet, “Spencer no.”
“Brilee, yes.”
“No.”
“Alright that’s it.” Spencer snatched Brilee’s wallet from her hand and took off. He knew the exact bag she wanted. He couldn’t believe some of the things he’d do for her. Especially go into the girliest store in the mall to buy a designer duffle bag-er weekender? Oh it was some Vera Bradley bag and he knew exactly what it looked like.
The lady behind the counter gave him a weird look, “This...isn’t for you is it?”
Spencer shook his head now laughing, “Nope. My best friend didn’t have enough for it so I decided to snatch her wallet and cover the rest.”
"What a sweetheart." The elderly lady smiled, "She someone special?" Spencer shook his head 'no' hiding a blush.
"She's just a friend, my best friend."
Brilee playfully punched Spencer's arm. "You jerk! I told you no! And now you expect me to use your jerk bag?!" Spencer laughed.
"Jerk bag?"
"Yes." She grinned, "You were a jerk- you didn't listen to me when I said no! So it’s a jerk bag!"
He shook his head laughing, "Only you Bri, only you!"
She folded her arms playfully glaring, "You love me and you know it."
"Yeah, I do."

Oh. My. GOSH. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! PLEASE! EEP!
There were some minor grammar errors that I spotted, but you can always go back and edit those later- not a problem. I think once you go through it again, you'll work out the little kinks in it, and this will be amazing!! (Okay, let's face it, it already is.)
Without knowing Bri's character, the only part of this that kind of... I don't know, seemed off... was the part when Spencer asked what she was staring at. It seems like she was so open about liking Chance, instead of a little bit sheepish or even teasing or something. But that could easily just be her character, and she and Spencer have known each other for so long, so you should probably ignore me, haha!
I really, really liked this (obviously...). Your voice is so fun and easy to read!! It is awesome!! It has SERIOUS potential.
Never stop writing! <3
where the hell's next?
This is really good. Please, carry on!
