Hopefully, I covered everything in the RP post, but if not, your characters decide to join a class offered by Vippersly, a famous internet star that does stunts with flamethrowers, that teaches 'techno-craft' [online magic that uses color hex codes for spells], in attempt to understand how and why their mother mysteriously disappeared.

THE MAGIC SYSTEM

The magical ability of a computer is first determined by offensive/defensive capabilities. The magical offensive/defensive capabilities of a computer is heavily dependent on type.
Supercomputers
Supercomputers are the most elite. Given their ability to make a billion billion calculations per second, they have the most powerful offensive and defensive abilities. They do have a few drawbacks. First, they don't use hex code which is the most commonly used form of techno-craft, second many are exclusively used for scientific or engineering research, therefore most don't have a wide range of attacks. Finally, due to their large size, they aren't mobile, so their usually owned by rich folks who can afford them.
Personal Desktop computers
PDC's are compatible with hex-code, and have extremely powerful defensive abilities. Another bonus, is that they can be personally modified to suit your needs. However, even with personal modifications, they are often lacking in offensive capability, and have a slow attack speed. They are more mobile then Supercomputers, so anyone can buy one if they so wish, HOWEVER they are rather bulky, so many people choose to pass up PDC's.
Laptops and Tablets
Laptops have the wide range of attack abilities, have the highest compatibility with hex code, and are effective for offense. They are extremely versatile, so they are especially handy for tough 'now-way-out' situations. Plus they are extremely mobile. Laptops do come with a few drawbacks. First, their great mobility + offensive ability means they are lacking in certain defensive capabilities. Second, the overall strength of their attacks is average, or below. They are better used in short quick offensive attacks, not attacks that require heavy fire-power.
Tablets are basically like Laptops, but with more mobility and and attack ranges. However they also have even less defensive capabilities.
Phones
Phones are extremely customizable, have the widest range of attack abilities, and an attack speed that equals or even rivals that of a supercomputer. They are also the most mobile. However they have no defensive capabilities, and have the second lowest compatibility rate with hex-code (unless connected to a Bluetooh keyboard), and are high-maintenance.
Finally, we come to the hex-codes, the actual spells
Wheel of Magic
Red tones-used for spells that involve humans, and emotional attachments. Is strongest with a Microsoft computer
Purple (or pink) tones-used for more devine or ‘god-like’ aspects of magic like summoning, creating something, controlling souls, and time. Strongest with an Apple computer
Blue tones-used to control weather, or the earth. Strongest with a Mac computer
Yellow tones-is involved with dark magic, like manipulation spells, or spells used to kill or hurt someone. Strongest with an Acer or Asus
Green tones-can be used to enhance the other spells, as a sealant or enactor of the spell, or special spells exclusive to the user/spells other colors won’t allow you to use. Is compatible with all brands of computers.
Black-is an additive, that can be used to decrease negative or catastrophic effects
White-is an additive that can be used to increase the negative or catastrophic effects of spells
Grey-depending on rather or not there's a larger amount or black/white it can either increase or decrease negative effect
Brown-can be used to replace purple, if purple doesn't suit the aesthetic
Put any combination of those colors together and you have a complete spell or 'aesthetic'
