Spoiler
My father died of cancer when i was 14, and his father died of cancer when he was 9. I will not let my fate be the same. I will win

The disease that took my father
Now eats at my lungs.
The disease that took his father
now quickens my breath.

The tumor that ruined a generation
working in silence.
A silent killer
causing turmoil and tears
How dare you rear your face.

I will see my daughter down the aisle.
I will see my son hold his head high.
I will see my wife smile till her dying day,
and i will see you die
here right now.

Excuse my language, but my anger rages
When i think of you.
I see my son playing ball all alone
and I feel what you have done.
I cannot sit or stand or run or jump;
You've proved your damaging effects,
But my spirit remains strong!

I miss my son as he misses me
but I can't stand on my own two feet.
My knees are as weak as my breathing
while you invade my body.
No mr. cancer this is my body
so get the hell out!

I will survive this. I will
win my freedom from you.
I do not give myself permission
to quit and die
I will see myself to victory.

This fight is not over,
I will come back.
My body regains its' strength
as I slowly regain my hope.

I have things to live for.
A family right behind me.
Killing you, I say goodbye,
so, get the hell out!

I truly loved this. And I didn't mind the profanity, which is unusual for me in poems. This was extremely emotional. It also hits a soft spot for me because my great-grandmother died of cancer last year, and I can relate to your feelings, especially;
so cancer f*** off.

Keep writing, dreaming, being. Long live! :

I Loved this poem. It's absolutely brilliant. I can feel you're emotions and all the thoughts that you've had on this journey; and that ( in my opinion) is how writing should be.

I will see my daughter down the aisle.
I will see my son hold his head high.
I will see my wife smile till her dying day,
and i will see you die
here right now. So step the f*** out.

This is definitely my favorite stanza. When I read this, it gave me goose bumps. It truly resembles your strength and incentive to fight pass this pattern.

This is definitely my most favorite piece I've read while on YWS.

I don't see any mistakes other than Uncapitalized I's. Other than that, Please keep writing :)

F*** cancer, tell it to get off of your cloud man. Killed my dad's old man.

"Hey, you, cancer, get off of our cloud!"
"This is our decision,
to live fast and die young...
Yeah it's overwhelming,
but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and
wake up for the morning commute?

The models will have children,
we'll get a divorce,
find some more models;
everything must run its course!

Great Job this poem suprisingly flowed really well and was really simple to understand and get the meanings of! (Especially since really vague poetry that makes me have to think about it I never undertand :))
I loved this piece! Here's my favorite part:
Excuse my language, but my anger rages
When i think of you.
I see my son playing ball all alone
and I feel what you have done.
I cannot sit or stand or run or jump
so cancer f*** off.

Hey there,
Wow this is really deep. Emotions is seeping right through and I am completely gripped. Your strength is so evident and I pray that you keep fighting this. Fight. And Cancer deserves no mercy so curse at it all you want. And you're lucky you have the talent to write that way you can vent some stress, anger, pain, let it flow from your heart and possess your pen. Bravo!! A tear is rolling down my cheek as we speak and I can only hope it goes well for you and that you overcome this. You beat this.
I love this poem. I wish there was a LOVE option. :)
All the best.

Wow.. I really, really do like this one a lot. But you've heard this all before in the other posts I'm sure! I read them. You're readers are very moved by your words and your emotion. You have a wonderful talent being this writer that you are. Already a ton of fans. You can add me to that growing list!

I really loved the message you painted through writing this... Cancer bites :(... I'm very lucky to be able to say I've never experienced a loss from cancer, nor have I had the burden of dealing with such a disease. But I feel deeply for the poem still. It was a beautiful piece. The only thing that gave me little confusion was, was this you writing the poem figuratively? Or is it based on true experience? Either way, I'm sorry for what you've encountered. But this was a truly wonderful poem..

Wow...I had no idea.

This is an incredible poem, very emotional and full of passion. It feels real in a way that few written things can, and I applaud not only your writing skills, but also your bravery. I know what it's like to lose someone to cancer, but I can never imagine what actually having it is like. It really makes me stop and think how small and stupid my problems are in comparison.

You one of my favorite writers, so do me a solid favor and kick cancer's ass.

Take the F word out of the middle stanza, there. It didn't fit with me, but I really liked it used in the other two stanzas. Keep writing, press on. I liked it, a lot!

Fight, never let anything take you down! :D Seeing people like you actually dealing with hardships much harder than mine makes me want to be better. Know that not only we pray for you to live long, but you have helped me keep myself together. I admire your strength, and it really makes me think how lucky I am.

Don't let anything or anyone bring you down.

hey there... Its a nicely written poem.... Very nicely indeed...Though I understand the reason for using the F word so much, I believe decreased use would have been better... But that doesn't ruin your poem... The cause and theme of the poem is what I fell for. Cancer indeed is dreadful... I hope your poem will help someone else too... You should put it up at a larger scale too... I will do good to many...:)
The answers lie within.. You only need to look.. :)

I did enjoy this piece, but unlike others, I didn't like the use of the F-word. In my eyes, it dulls the piece, and takes away from it's greatness. But on the other hand! The poem is still great, and as others have already mentioned, very emotional. I can connect. My great uncle died two years ago due to pancreatic cancer. Last year my grandmother got breast cancer. Twice. This year, pre-cancerous cells have been found in my great grandfather, and docters are doing what they can to remove that. Anyway... I could really feel your emotions shine through in this poem. Great job!

Keep writing!
