Sorry guys, I know I stink at math. This is a word problem. We are doing "Complete the square."

The are A in square feet of a projected picture on a movie screen is given by A=o.16d (squared) where d is the distance from the projector to the screen in feet. At what disrance will the projected picture have an area of 100 square feet.

Well that's the problem...

Umm... I think you just plug in 100 for A and solve for D, but I'm not 100% positive. Math isn't my strongest subject either.

A is supposed to equal 0.16 though...I have no clue.

I thought A=.16d^2?

If so, that's your equation..

Remrock is right! The area, in this case, is 100.

So how would you write that out into a problem and solve it?

Ooh, ok. Thanks Snoink!

So if you were going to solve this, it would look like 100=.16d^2 and you would solve for d by dividing 100/.16 (which equals 625) and then squaring 625.

Sorry if that was confusing... I can try to explain it step by step if you need me to.

Plug 100 in for A and get 100 = 0.16d^2, divide both sides by .16 and get 625, then square both side and get d = 25ft.
