Night Terrors

I have a main character who has night terrors, it's a big part of the plot and I only know bits and pieces about it. I know that people who have usually don't remember them afterward and they may or may not have temporary memory loss.

So I was just if anyone could provide anymore information about night terrors. I'd prefer if people didn't link wikipedia, it's let me down before.

EDIT: I'm looking for how they effect people in their daily lives, how it effects relationships with people and what it's like for people who get them.

What exactly do you want to know about them? I'm pretty up on them.

You are right, they don't remember.

You can't wake a child from it.

Holding or constraining a child will only make it worse.

Kid usually sits straight up in bed and screams like they are being chased, some will actually run out of the room (followed by falling down the stairs or running outside the home sometimes) without knowing it.

Usually happens between 3 and 6 years. 3% of the population.

Is very linked to stress. I know most people are like...3 year old don't have stress, but they do if there is like fighting in the home or a divorce or something like that or to that affect.

The stress part helps me out a lot.

I was looking for how they effect people in their daily lives, how it effects relationships with people and I was also looking for information of what it feel like for people who have them... If anyone this site has them at all.

I'll edit the first post with that.

People who have them don't know what they feel like. That's the thing. Unless your main character is between the ages of 3 and 6, then there is no way they could have night terrors...you know?

People who have them do not know that they have them. It's the people that care for them that know. I had them when I was little, but until I was told about it several years ago I had no idea I had them, and it was when there was turns of fighting on my home and my parents went through a divorce. But I still don't remember them. I mean, it's not like a dream.

Remember when dad's shoulders were the highest place on earth and your mom was your hero? Race issues were about who ran the fastest, war was only a car game. The most pain you felt was when you skinned your knees, and good byes only meant tomorrow? And we couldn't wait to grow up.
