* the new edited version after i change a few parts after a comment from a teacher...

The Cuba St. was quiet; buildings were lit off and abandoned. At the corner of the road beside a DVD store was a street light. A passing 54 bus stopped on its track as the street light highlighted the colour red. He was late. He leaned his head towards the window while his hands loosened their grip on the steering wheel as he watched an imaginary trail of people crossing the road. Slowly, out of boredom, he took his gaze to an open window at the second floor of a building.
He leaned his head back as the street light shifted from red to a bright green. Slowly he drove the bus past the crossing and into the deepening darkness of the City.
Behind the window, Janilima locked her gaze at the bus that steered its way into darkness. She took a moment to look at it as the features of the bus driver’s face echoed in her mind. The droopy eyes, the large cat-like yawn and the deep wrinkles by the side of his face flashed through her psyche like a sudden epiphany. It finally dissolved into the back of her mind as she saw a group of middle age men trailing behind the bus.
Some wore blue and grey suits; others wore a hood while a few wore thick sleeveless shirts that exposed their broad muscles. Behind them, however, was a young man probably in his early twenties trailing behind the group. He wore a dark blue jacket over a black shirt. He walked slowly behind pausing to look at the facade of the building with his cheeks flushed in pink.
“He must be a newbie.” She murmured gazing at him through her barred window.
“I figured you’ll be here, Jenny.”
Janilima closed the drapes quickly by the sudden call of her name. She turned around and held the drapes closely together behind her back, closing it. She finally breathed a relieving sigh as the person who had called her name was a friend of hers.
She was leaning by the door with one hair brushing her auburn-coloured hair that reached towards her waist. She wore a black tube that exposed the top of her cleavage and her long slender legs. Her face was U-shape, her body thin and slender.

“What?” the woman added with a giggle. “I am not some kind of ghost am I?”

“What are you doing here, Abigail?” she muttered solemnly.

“What am I doing here, Jenny?” She repeated her question with a high voice accompanied with an overdramatic tone before looking at her with a sharp stare. “You obviously know why I am here, Jenny. You’re late! The other girls are already by the stage waiting for you.”

Janilima kept silent letting go of the drapes by her hands.
“You’re just lucky that the boss was not yet there.” Abigail added standing upright with her arms locked before her chest. “If he were to find to find out that you were doing this again –”
“What’s wrong with this, Abigail?” She asked. “What’s wrong with looking out the window?”

Abigail paused tilting her head upwards. She pursed her lips inside while tapping her high-heeled shoe against the wooden floor trying to find the right words to say.

“I don’t know.” She placed both hands on her hips. “But all I know if you continue this stupid thing, he’ll place a camera on each of our rooms and you’ll know what a bloody pervert he is. He would sit there by the monitor and watch us change clothes and get naked. Not even me, who like to be aroused, want this.”

Janilima kept silent wrapping her hands around her waist. Though she hate to admit it, she was partly right. Not only does she hate to have her privacy being taken away from her but she would be blamed by the other girls for ruining their own privacy. She gave a sigh brushing a lock of hair that fell down to her face.

“You’re still new anyway to this stuff, right? That could be a reason.” Abigail added with a broad smile on her face. “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to this. Besides, I can tell that you’re starting to adapt. We had a little chat with the girls thinking that you look out at the window because you want to find the perfect guy to score for the night.”
Janilima blushed.

“That is not the case!” Janilima exclaimed with her right hand against her chest. “I do –”

“Then why do you do it then? You know that guys come here for bodily entertainment, right? We give them what they want and we get money that would buy us two pair of diamond rings in a single day. So why do you bother looking out unless you’re picking the guy to score? Be prepared, right?” She looked at her with her eyes narrowed down. She lowered her head for a moment before she raised it up with a force smile on her face. She turned around so that her back against her.

Janilima opened her mouth to speak. She wanted to counter the point that her friend was making but she only murmured words too soft even for her to hear.

“Anyway, we’re late.” Abigail said. Half of her body disappeared behind the wall before her, leaving only fragments of her face and body. Her green eyes stared at her like an eagle piercing the inner depths of her consciousness. “The show probably has started. But if we don’t go there quickly, I won’t be the only whose butt will be shoved out of this business.”

With that she trailed to the hall humming a Rihanna song.
Janilima followed, after the sounds faded through the distance. She took one last glance at the mirror, checking if her revealing style dress was ready. For a moment, another faint thought shined against her. Yet, it was not the image of the bus driver that flung to the front part of her mind. It was her own self against the stillness of her surrounding. She looked at the barred windows, and the dark brown walls that surrounded her.
“What else is there for me to do other than this?” She murmured to herself. She applied the last of her makeup as she listened to the ruptured laughter of deep voices from the outside. She gave a grin upon hearing their laughter but upon gazing at the mirror to stare at her reflection once more, her grin finally gave way. She gave a deep sighed as she looked away from her own self. She locked her arms around her chest while biting her cherry-coloured lips.
After she pulled a loose stocking over her legs, she hurried to the hall. She hoped that she was not too late for the show. She began to mumble silent pleas that her boss would not sacked her off from business. She felt her breathing in gasp as she sped her pace after hearing music at the end of the corridor.
As she arrived, the whole room was showered in green and red colours. By the stage, her colleagues began pole dancing with their backs arched and their legs around the steel pole. Around them, various men stood to watch them with their eyes focused on their bodies.
When she came to the stage, she took their attention. They began to cheer her as she wrapped her legs around the steel pole and loosening her dress. Several of her colleagues stopped on her appearance, Abigail was one of them. They gazed at her for an instant forcing a small smile from their faces before they returned to their actions.
Janilima arched her back as she stared at red lights over her face. She blinked her eyes momentarily giving a simple sigh as she started her routine.

John McClane: Drop it. It's the police.
Tony: You won't hurt me.
John McClane: Oh, yeah? Why not?
Tony: Because you're a policeman. There are rules for policemen.
John McClane: Yeah. That's what my captain keeps telling me

This was pretty good, an interesting perspective. Your characters were pretty good though, and the setting was decent (though the description could have been better). I don't really see much to say on plot or other related things.

So on to grammer.

Slowly he drove the bus passed the crossing and into the deepening darkness of the City.

Wrong passed, should be past. Though through would probably make more sense than past.

“He must be a newbie.” She murmured gazing at his through her barred window.

his should be him

“I don’t know.” She placed her hands on her hips. “I don’t why boss cared to such matter, but all I know if you continue such stupid act, he’ll place a camera on each of our rooms and you’ll know what a bloody pervert he is. He would sit there by the monitor and watch us change clothes and get naked. Not even me, who like to be aroused demand such thing.”

There are a million things wrong with this gramatically. Unless of course this character is not a native english speaker and their english skills haven't become so great. Though most of this speakers other statements make more sense than this.

She quickened her pace to get to the hall feeling irritated that the stocking became loose not noticing a man at the end of hall holding something under his pocket.

This last sentence ends implying some sort of action is to come. Unless you have another part to this, or plan on continuing it, consider rewriting this sentence. Implying action and not following through can be very annoying to a reader.

Anyways, nice job. Keep writing!

Hey, most of what I caught was said by Lauren, so I just want to let you know that this was a very interesting piece, but since it kind of leaves it as a cliff hanger, I'm curious as to if there's more. I like the way you began it since it didn't have to do with the main character, which was nice for a change. I like the girl, which is always a good thing when creating a main character, and if you do continue this, keep that human aspect to her always :) Alright, well, I'll be looking for the next chapter if there is one to actually edit a little bit more :)

yeah...thanks for the reply...the last line of the story is a bit of an experiment..it was to be that Janilima is to look at an open window before descending down the stairs...

i wonder if you like this ending or not or do you think the ending of her looking at an open window is better??
John McClane: Drop it. It's the police.

I like it. The characters are nice. I liked how you waited to describe Jenny. Abigail is quite interesting, too. I get the feeling she's been in this and is used to it. Where Jenny is kind of getting the idea. Like Abigail knows the rules and is trying to help Jenny out. The whole story was interesting. But once thing is if your not going to continue the story I would suggest to make the ending different. Because you leave us on a cliff. But you could do what ever you like.

Fox!!
I like this story. The whole background is interesting, the story behind it is interesting, the caracterization is awesome, the descriptions are very well written. This was great Fox!!
The story in this piece is so interesting, because is still a very delicate topic of discussion in some countries, one of them been mine. And it does tell the perspective of some that feel forced to get into thatjob.

so, now some nitpicks.

“I don’t why boss cared much

I have the same question that Lauren has about this sentence. So, I think thwere whould be know there, like I don't know...

Half of her body disappeared behind the wall before her leaving only fragments of her face and body.

I think you should place a comma between her and leaving.

She took one last glance at the mirror checking if her revealing style dress was ready

I'm so sorry. lol. I'm a grammar freak!! So I think a comma should be placed between checking and mirror.

Yet, it was not the image of the bus driver that flung to her front part of her mind.

You repated her twice in this sentence and the first her, I think, should be replaced by a the.

so that's it, I love your style and approach to the story. This piece was really good and I hope there's more to come.

Keep writing

Well, I must say that was very different(lol). I liked how Jenny seemed so much more insightful than the others. I feel like there's more to her than meets the eye. That's why i'm eager to see how things turn out. If, of course, your going to expand on this. I hope you do. It's a great story and your an awesome writer!
