Goals

I already have 15k of this sitting on my laptop as well as several ancient drafts so I'm not starting from scratch. The goal of this Camp NaNo is to keep said goal as simple and natural as possible. With a hectic next few weeks and NaPo on my plate, I want to make sure I can actually achieve the goal I set for myself here.

So, this Camp NaNo's goals are:

  • Get the draft's total word count to 30k.
  • Get in the mindset of using scenes as progress markers, rather than using specific word counts.
    • For example, a good writing session might result in one full scene, rather than x amount of words. This is way more sustainable and way more fun to think about.
  • Get to The SceneTM with Aska, or at least the very first major reveal one with him.

Awww thank you so much !! <33 I've had this idea since 2015 (2016???) and have tried writing different drafts of it, but this is the first draft I think I can actually finish.

And thanks on the scene progress markers!! It's worked really well for some of the fics I've written, so I thought it would be great to try it with something more original too.

No update for the very first day of April, but I did just finish some bingewriting! I wrote the main part of the first big Aska scene. The scene is already starting to transition into the next one, so I'm pretty satisfied with today's progress.

I've also realized I need to make my assassin gal a little more horrified when she finds out that beast was a human earlier on in the draft, but that's a thing for future revising me to take care of. :)

I've been a little bit behind behind on writing this novel for #CampNaNo I blame school but I finally got some writing done yesterday! I relied on the good old working through writer's block by handwriting a section instead of typing it. I got a little farther with the scene I was writing and had an unexpected conversation start, so I'm pretty satisfied with it right now. My one issue is that I don't know what I want to do after this scene.

I spent a little under an hour today typing up what I wrote last Friday and writing a bit more after that, and I'm pretty satisfied with the little progress I've made! I'm hoping taking these baby steps are going to help me get through this scene and into the next one. <33

Great work, Mage! Handwriting a section to get the writing gears going sounds like a neat trick. (Maybe I should try handwriting something on my actual gears . . . ?) Good luck with the rest of Camp NaNo! You can do it!
