This was a lot of tiny bits of writing stuffed into one session because I was going back and patchworking stuff in from the second draft I hadn't transferred over since I've kinda been,,, focusing on purely writing.

but then I got started on the next scene and I can't believe I missed out on the potential dynamic between Benvolio's parents and Felicity last draft. I'm rectifying this, of course.

if you somehow noticed the total word count doesn't make sense mathematically, no you didn't

anyway, close to finishing with this chapter. Felicity and Benvolio, my beloveds. they're so soft :sob:

I was thinking about some issues to bring up in therapy about my issues with constantly worrying about people's perceptions of me and then it bled right into writing as soon as I started, so,,, oops? lol

I'd love to say that I just had a great streak today (and tbf, I was feeling very good about writing today), but about half of that was taken from the second draft and then I just revised it to be a little smoother and more accurate to the newest draft, so it wasn't exactly new content lol

but I almost finished two whole chapters today, and I'm going to call that a win *flexes* do I know what I'm writing tomorrow? not really! Benvolio and Felicity are going to have a Conversation, but I've kinda reached a zone where I'm really steering off the course I had for the second draft, and I've gotten figure out what events that need to happen should go next for the pacing.

I have bad time management skills and this resulted in my missing two days. uh, oops.

but I made up for it today!

Congratulations on writing over 14,000 words so far bees! And great work catching up today! I hope you have a fantastic Camp NaNo and a fantastic time writing your story. I'm sure it will be a good one!

sometimes writing Colonia Heights feels like falling into a fever dream? there's a really specific vibe that I get when writing sometimes, and it feels like I no longer exist in reality the same way as everything else. it is very possible this is a product of writing a novel where I'm treating the rules of reality as guidelines and everything is unspooling.

it's a good feeling though. it's very trance-like. it's soothing. there's something really comforting about writing this novel, even in the painful parts. I think it's just catharsis.

anyway, another chapter down! getting close to 50k. I once again do not know what I'm writing tomorrow (today), but that is a journey for later.

I'm also really sleep deprived so this might be,,, nonsense lol but I'm having a good time and I think that's what matters here

are you actually writing a novel if you're not unpacking your own thought patterns/traumas/grief/family dynamics/etc lol

Xavier has finally arrived and he is just as terrible as always. this introduction is honestly 100% better though, even though the actual prose was slacking today. but I got words out!! I can fix it later.

ANYWAY ANOTHER CHAPTER DOWN and I think I actually did breach 50k this time lol

I was very pleased with how I introduced Xavier but I'm,,, not sure I'm as pleased with the next chapter between him and Nero. I think I may rewrite it entirely, but I'm not going to worry about that right now with Camp NaNo happening.

somehow I didn't realise I'd completely forgotten to log this day and got really confused as to why my days skipped from 21 to 23 when I knew I had written on the 22nd.

anyway, I ended up skipping the rest of the chapter with Nero and Xavier since I didn't really vibe with it. I'll come back to it after Camp NaNo, I think, or possibly once I finish drafting so I know what needs to go there.

but I'm very pleased with this next chapter! I went HARD back into big plot stuff. I have tunnelled hard into weird, ominous dreams, and I am loving it.

Felicity has had some revelations (!) and then I made the chapter completely incomprehensible. I think this third draft has veered hard into "what is happening", and I'M enjoying myself a whole lot, but I foresee that this may have some...averse effects on readers who don't understand the vague, abstract things that are happening (before information is revealed, anyway). I guess I'll find out later.

I'm happy with the pacing though. worried I might make this draft a little longer, but uh. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

god I love this novel though.
