this storm isnt for you

Two lost kids trying to find their way. A phone call late at night. A visit from a mysterious stranger who has secrets and knows secrets. The feeling of running away from something but circling back to the same place. A small-town horror story without the ghosts and ghouls and part-time jobs of newspaper delivery.

A series of murders. No one has anything to keep quiet about, and no one wants to face the consequences of their actions.

~~~
this story idea has been brought to you by:
are you afraid of the dark? (television series.)
dark forests that seem endless.
the whole idea of the cryptidcore aesthetic.
the cemetery that's kind of near my house.
it will include:
lgbtq+ representation and a main character who is closeted.
rivals who fight and argue a lot over dumb things.
a romance that might not be romance.
not very hidden references to tame impala.
a lot of teenage emotions and all of that awkwardness.
goal: around 30,000 words.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I'm shooting for 30k too!! We got this!!
This sounds so atmospheric and creepy and cool!! I love the concept of "running away from something but circling back to the same place" and "a romance that might not be a romance" 🧐🧐
I'm excited to see how this develops!! 💜
It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
Gosh, chikara! 30k is quite a big goal! And the mood you've already set for just this blurb makes me excited to see how you'll write this thriller piece. Horror and horror adjacent are always so interesting to write, so I can't wait to see your rendition of it.
Oops, forgot to update this.
7/7/2021:
I figured out character stuff? There's also some slight romance happening with the two main characters, and that's great because I was planning on it. It's kind of like best friends to lovers? but they aren't really lovers and just awkward?
I also figured out a name for one of the main characters! I think I'll go with Shannon for now because it vibes well with the rest of the people.
And of course, made it to 2,630 words earlier!
Uhh made it to about 5k a little bit ago.
I haven't really been writing that much, and what I have written is kind of Trash compared to other stuff I've written. It's also becoming more and more poetic and more and more romantic as stuff goes on.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
Oh hi there, I totally didn't forget about this.
ANYWAY, let's just say 15k and not dig into the specifics because I haven't actually looked at the word count in a while. Oops.
