once again, I'm dreadful at keeping accountability threads updated:

Day One - Tarot's House of Vigilance

"Overall" word count is actually sorta inaccurate since there's like, a chapter and a quarter I didn't count that I wrote a while ago (lol), but I'm just going to be counting what I write for Camp NaNo because I'm lazy.

anyway, I have once again done ruined a perfectly sweet little guy and gave him anxiety

Day Two - Tarot's House of Vigilance

me: never again will I start a novel without finishing the outline

anyway, I'm still trucking along the plotting, but I'm pretty sure I have enough at least for the 25k. either way, why do I keep doing this to myself :')

anyway, my favourite part of writing a new novel has unfolded: the protagonists have met, and now I can cause chaos

I bragged about doing really well and then immediately plummeted lol I've been punished for my hubris.

actually I just decided I wanted to make cookies on Tuesday before playing d&d, and then ran out of time between that and making dinner and ended up writing a little bit in between when I was meant to be doing anything.

back on the horse though! also after going "I need to be consuming something detective-esque right now, but what?" I started listening to The Penumbra Podcast and found out it is literally about a PI so I'm winning (also I'm really enjoying it already, which I've been having trouble with ever since finishing The Magnus Archives. nothing was hitting the sweet spot of content I was looking for, but I think I might have found something now so I'm satisfied).

ALREADY ALMOST TO 10K ON THIS NOVEL let's GO (actually technically I'm a few thousand PAST 10k on the novel as a whole since I didn't count the beginning chapter or part of the second, so... winning)

yes I did write ONLY ONE word for gay detective novel. I meant to do more but I,,, have poor time management lol

but I got some Colonia Heights in!! which I've been kinda putting off, but finally got back into it ^^

got a HUGE boost on Sunday, and by that I mean I was like "I'm just going to quickly finish this chapter because all it needs is a short scene to be added" and boy was I SO WRONG (well, yes, but actually no). and what I mean by that is that I went to write one specific scene and my hand slipped and I info-dumped,,, so much :')

like, I REALLY enjoyed writing the chapter, and I think it is a cool chapter that really illuminates more of the worldbuilding and what's going on, but,,, mel no. that's not what was meant to go there. you didn't need worldbuilding there. you needed TWO things to happen and that is ALL.

(did get some, I think, excellent foreshadowing though B) also some cool emotionally wrecking lines for Icarus, which is always a plus)

anyway, I am enjoying third person omniscient/present tense SO MUCH, and I can and will fight anyone who doesn't like it. yeah, maybe it's not as fun for the reader, but they're not the one who has to pull teeth to write it, are they? (idk why I'm feeling kinda zany right now but I'm sleep deprived so anything goes)


also, tarot is a mood. he's such a drama queen and I love him. he's about to Go Through it :)
