Jace

I hand over the pen and wait, confused.

Rayah

I write his initials on it again and it turns golden. "There," I hand it back to him with the pen and flash a smile before checking the time on my phone.

Jace

I stare at the golden ticket, the scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory running through my mind. Shaking my head, it stops and I return to slight sanity.

"Thanks," I say.

Rayah

My smile grows wider and I kick my feet up, taking a deep breath. "No problem."

Jace

I slip the ticket away and down the rest of my soda, leaning back in my chair.

Rayah

I look down at my hands, twiddling my thumbs as I do, bored.

Jace

Sighing, I cross my arms and look around for something to do.

Rayah

I look at him. "Mind if I call you Jay?" I ask.

Jace

I look at her and flash a smile, "Nah, sure. Can I call you Ray?"

Rayah

I think. All my boyfriends called me that...but what the heck?

I flash a smile and nod, "Sure."

Jace

I flash a smile back and nod to myself, looking down at the floor.

Rayah

I nod too, glancing outside. It's snowing now. I give up and unclentch my fists, the temperature dropping instantly.

Jace

It all of a sudden gets cold and I glance at her, eyebrow raised, "Aw. I was kind of hoping you'd keep it warm until we left..."

Rayah

I try again but it doesn't work. "Too cold. My f*cking power won't work when it's cold," I mutter, freezing.

Jace

"It was meant to be some kind of a joke, but okay..." I say, twirling around my empty soda bottle on the table.
