Rana didn’t know where she was going. All she knew was she didn’t want to listen to… any of that. And she didn’t want Lia to have to, either, even though she seemed far more sex-positive than Rana was herself. She was still a child and didn’t need to deal with it. Or even the suggestion of it. And it didn’t take too much prompting for her to agree it’d be better for them to both go out on the town rather than stay in.
They started by going in search of a meal.

There were several restaurants and eateries along the west side of town catering to many different tastes, though primarily Eastern and Southern. It was nearly as busy as the marketplace.

Rana let Lia pick the place, and was grateful she’d decided on Eastern comfort food. They weren’t going to have access to it soon, so they both wanted to load up. They settled down at a table in the corner of the restaurant, with Rana positioned so she could see the door and the room. Keep an eye on everything to be sure they were safe… well, at least to be sure she’d be aware if a threat entered.

A server approached her with a smile and a small bow. "Hello, misses! How may I help you today?"

"Absolutely! Anything to drink in the meantime?" he handed out menus. A few tables down, a man dressed in Rhaebaki finery was eating smoked ham with a glass of wine, looking immensely preoccupied.

Rana glanced at the man at the nearby table, suddenly remembering what the fortune teller had said. She glanced away again. Was it the man? What were the chances? Slim, that’s what. And even slimmer he wanted to be bothered by a teenager with stupid questions.

He sipped at his wine, knee bouncing as he stared off into space with a furrowed brow. He was wearing a set of gold earrings and an expensive necklace, but he was wearing green instead of blue.

“Mm?” Rana shook herself, glancing over at her sister.
“You okay?”
“Yeah.”
Lia looked at her skeptically.
Rana glanced over at the man again.
“Who is he?” Lia followed her gaze.
“…Not sure,” Rana admitted. “I was just admiring his necklace.”
Lia furrowed her brow. “You don’t even like jewelry.”
“I like his necklace,” Rana insisted, even though Lia was correct. She glanced at her. “I’m going to go ask where he got it. Wait here.”
Lia pouted but didn’t argue. Rana stood up and strode towards the man.

His eyes flicked toward her and dismissed her, then he noticed she was approaching him specifically and blinked, sitting up slightly.
