Ky nodded. "I had another spirit try to take it to test -- they can't."

Ky nodded. "...Do you have more of them? I think Gaius wants one. He's here somewhere." She glanced around.

"In that crowd, I 'spec." She pointed to where a throng of people were yelling. Bay had his sword out and was shouldering toward Ky and Myna with pressed up against his chest. Gaius had lost his crutch and looked completely shellshocked.

"Wha--?" Ky gaped for a moment, shocked at the mob. Then quickly started towards them to help.

Bay shook his head at her. "Back up, back up!" He turned, still hanging onto Gaius, and pointed his sword in front of him. "LISTEN UP!" The crowd was still yelling, but they drew back to avoid the sword. "Listen." Bay glared at all of them. "Your lord's not here for long. He'll be out of your hair soon enough. Til then, if you get within five feet of us when he doesn't want you there I'll have to start cutting off hands, and I'd rather not."

Ky stopped short, assuming the threat wasn't directed toward her, and yet she wasn't taking any chances. She looked for his crutch but didn't move until she had permission to.

It was completely gone. The crowd muttered, but they weren't yet a mob and so they reluctantly dispersed. Gaius was still pressed against Bay, narrow chest heaving and hair in complete disarray. He wanted to go home now.

"...Are you alright?" She still didn't risk approaching.

Bay turned toward her. "I am. Are you?" He looked down at Gaius, who gave a jerky nod. "He's not well," he clarified.

Ky nodded, gathering that herself as she looked at him in concern. "...What happened to your crutch?"

He shrugged, slowly disentangling himself from Bay but keeping tight hold of his sleeve. "A villager got it," Bay replied. "I'll track him down later. I believe we had an appointment with you, madam?" He looked to Myna. "Or we wished to make one." "Is he fit for one?" Myna squinted down at Gaius. "He looks like death."

Ky glanced around. Who just stole their Lord's crutch? That was some massive balls if she'd ever heard of it. She had all but a gold-sealed guarantee Gaius would never hurt her now and she still barely resisted the urge to call him 'sir' most of the time.

"Sir?" Bay glanced down at Gaius again. "I'll speak to you," Gaius said, voice barely above a whisper. His cloak was torn in a couple places. "I would like to purchase a rune bone."

He looked like hell; Ky was worried. How could she help? She didn't know. And still didn't quite have the guts to move.
