I'm pretty unfamiliar with this whole month-dedicated-to-writing-poetry thing, but I kind of get the idea of what's going down. Is it just writing a poem every day for a month?

Exactly! From the 1st April to the 30th, the aim is to write a poem every day, but there's no strict rules so if you're super busy on say the 9th, then you're okay to write two poems on the 10th to make up for it.
Sounds awesome! So what is the day when we have to not write any poetry until April 1?

I'm really excited about it! This year, I plan to go the whole month (I apparently stopped at some point in 2008, the last time I tried). No specific theme, although I would like to play with a more structured form at some point and I also really want to use the word "ferrozine" because I work with it and it turns iron a pretty purple color. I'm also subscribed to "Wheel of Prompts" for this reason.

Yeah, being a baby poet, the likelihood of me crashing and burning is great, but I'm all for trying. I don't really have a theme, but I have a feeling it's going to revolve around some issues going on with my family right now because that's what I'm thinking about most. I can't wait!
