So I haven't been on here in a while, but I hope to become more active on YWS again soon. I know that I am late for NaPoWriMo but I hope to write thirty poems before the month is up even if I have to write two a day.
Cherry Blossom Summer
Somehow you have transformed my summer,
and turned it into a spring I have yet
to understand.
For twenty thousand years I have lived, submerged
in a world so dark, so cold, that I thought all
was lost. And then you reached down from the heavens
and took my hand.
Your fingers kiss mine, how sweet, how pale, how pink and
soft they are. I hold them in my hand, and admire their
beauty, a beauty that only a god can create.
Birds spread their gilded wings, and fly around you, singing
words of praise. You are a sign that the worst is over, and
that we have not succumbed to a frigid fate.
I could stay in your arms forever. I could die in the presence
of your breath, but forever is such a very long time, so long
that it will have to end.
Soon winter will come and freeze away all the beauty, and soon
your petals will float away in the wind.
