Ramblings
(aka, when you go too long before restarting,
aka, sleep-deprived thoughts)

shoulda coulda woulda
so why didn'tcha?

regret.
to gret again?
r greet.
who am i greeting?
you, me, myself, and i
or myself through the gray-tinted lens of
not enough, never enough?
(quite the opposite of a
snowy white egret, you know)

sometimes i just feel so behind.
(hi bend, h in bed, ben hid)
like i just need an extra day to do
all i shoulda coulda woulda done today.

today.
to the day?
a tody.
yeah, i wonder what it'd be like
being a tody.
green-crimson-white plumage,
eating insects in the forest...

but all i have is
tomorrow.
worm root.

Loops & Blessings

i know i should
count my blessings.
a house, a family, good food, light, life, love, laughter-
an infinite loop.
while (true) {
....blessings++;
}

shouldn't this list, this array of length > Integer.MAX_VALUE,
be enough to make me happy?
(if all the reactants are present for a spontaneous reaction,
shouldn't it proceed?)

yet knowing and feeling are different
and there are days when my battery is drained
my limiting reactant has been used up
and it is all i can do
to count to three.

Burnout

Burnout.
Not quite as dramatic as a
computer catching on fire, or a
beaker exploding.
But a problem nevertheless.
(And not a fun one, like a 3D puzzle or
a math problem in which all the fractions cancel out.)

I've been fortunate,
collecting A's like an oxidizing agent collecting electrons in a redox reaction,
not part of the 30% of U.S. computers infected by malware.
But heat transfer is a thing,
and my screen can't help but glitch in empathy.

Isn't there something wrong with a school
where students insist on going to class
even when they're sick, tired, miserable?
(I can't afford to miss class. I need the grade.)
Where they compare test scores, summer programs,
extracurriculars, achievements, their lives?
("Oh, nice!" they say, swallowing their insecurities.)
Where college and a career and their future
are more important than
the present.

...
even a top-of-the-line computer
slows down eventually.
perhaps i'm not as immune as i think.

Languages

English is so funny.
We have chair, chopsticks, change, checkers...
And then there's chemistry.

Like, how does "ch" become "k"??

Also, salmon.
How does the "l" disappear??
If you're not going to pronounce it,
why put it in there in the first place? >:(

tengo que decir que
creo que el español es mucho más sensato.

(As a Spanish student,
I have to say that
I think Spanish is a lot more sensible.)

... when you study more Spanish, you will find out that every language is somehow horribly flawed, lol.

well. hopefully not as flawed as English, at least... XD (irregulars are bad, but not as bad as English's plain weirdness, in my opinion...)
