so close, so far

we are at once so close
and yet so far away.
I am close enough to see you,
and you are far enough away
to be just out of reach.
you are close enough for me to imagine
in vivid detail, and yet you are faint
to the other senses,
if you come closer to me,
I will come towards you,
and when we are together
all we be well.

All our dreams can come true — if we have the courage to pursue them.

one day more

the day is almost here, but we have to
hold on for just a moment longer.
we're not yet at the day where it's all
going to come together.
in twenty-four short hours, we can
enjoy the fruits of our labor,
so long as we keep moving.
so, for now, we press on.
we go onward, upward,
for we are so close to the finish line
that's peaking over the horizon.

All our dreams can come true — if we have the courage to pursue them.

violent ends

i can see the streaks of pink in the night sky,
which gets a shade lighter from dark black to bright blue
with each passing minute. the sun has not yet risen,
but soon it will. another day will begin
and the world will go on turning just as it always has.
the stars fade into the night and i bid them adieu
until sunset in about twelve hours time.
it is a miracle, isn't it? how everything comes and goes
and no matter how hard thing seem,
everything has its turn. outside, as i watch the sunrise,
i can feel and smell the warmer days ahead in this cold spring air.
we may have left our pains and yesterday,
but they will not last, for everything is a cycle.
winter becomes spring and summer becomes fall and
just as day becomes night and night and night becomes day,
the sun will rise and set again.

All our dreams can come true — if we have the courage to pursue them.

You made it! Your poetry continues to be so earnest and honest. And that final poem is perfect way to close up the thread with that delicate sky imagery of an "ending" yet the promise of tomorrow with these lines, "i can feel and smell the warmer days ahead in this cold spring air.
we may have left our pains and yesterday,
but they will not last, for everything is a cycle."

I think people could read a lot of situations into these final three poems especially - the end of a dream, or relationship, or just a season of life - and I like that you ended the thread with a touch of hope while still keeping it open to the turbulent and difficult emotions from earlier too.

Have to say, another favorite of these last few was "barbie girl" especially:
when you were young, my darling,
you had dreams. nowadays,
all anyone asks you about is
him. those few years felt like both
a blink of an eye and an eternity.

</3 Ooof. In a lot of places in this thread you touch on the difficulty of what it means to grow up with the expectations and realities of this world thrust upon us and quite a bit of what you're saying resonates for me. Life is difficult and sometimes violently so. Terrific thread, and well done. A pleasure to read! <3
you should know i am a time traveler &
there is no season as achingly temporary as now
but i have promised to return
