So apparently I'm going to attempt NaPo. Let's do it.

#1 - all you hear

he's the silver-tongued crooner who sings you to sleep
and who has the silken voice
that narrates your dreams
and when he sings about love
it feels like he's singing for you

he's the suave lyricist at the top of your most-played
and you know every word
to every song
and the lyrics are like your home
his voice is like a friend

he's the charismatic frontman of your favourite band
and when he sings it's all you hear
the chords change
and the synths hum
but you only focus on the vocals

he's the only band member you know by name
and you have no idea who produced the album
you've played on repeat all week
and you look for meaning in the words
but never in the rhythm

he's the bright centre of your narrow attention
and you never listen for the complexities
in the bass line or the drum beat
and you listen to the song
but you never hear the music

#2 - Falling

this is terminal velocity -
it must be,
it has to be -
you couldn't fall any faster

you're in love

a single smile sends you
plummeting -
and you realise:
you were closer to the edge than you thought

you're in love

there is no end in sight,
and when you
hit the ground,
how hard will you hit?

even gravity's pull
is not this strong.
you can't resist -
